DENVER – Texas State’s Timothy Young and William Murray were named the Western Athletic Conference Men’s Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for the week of April 22-28.
Young, a senior from Dallas, Texas (Skyline HS), finished second overall and first among collegiate athletes in the 110m hurdles with a time of 13.90, setting a new career-best time as well as a new top time for the WAC this season. Young also ran the 100m dash, finishing fourth, but first among collegiate athletes with a time of 10.52, fifth in the WAC.
Murray, a senior from Rochester, N.Y. (Buffalo State), finished first in the long jump with a distance of 7.49m (24-7.00), second farthest in the WAC and a personal best. Murray also ran the third leg of the men’s 4x400m relay, finishing second with a time of 3:10.91.
Other track nominees included: Louisiana Tech sophomore Paul Sakit, Seattle U sophomore Collin Overbay and Utah State sophomore Nic Bowens.
Other field nominees included: Seattle U freshman Shaddye Melu and Utah State sophomore Michael Cardinal.
