WAC Baseball Players of the Week Announced

DENVER – CSU Bakersfield second baseman Oscar Sanay and Dallas Baptist right-hander Cody Beam have been named the Western Athletic Conference Baseball Hitter and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, for May 6-12.

Sanay, a junior from Chula Vista, Calif. (Bonita Vista HS), led the Roadrunners to a 3-0 series sweep over Seattle U. Sanay hit .500 (6-for-12) on the week with six runs, five RBI, one walk and one stolen base. He opened the series by going 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored against the Redhawks. In the middle game of the set, Sanay was 2-for-5 with two RBI, a run scored and a stolen base. Sanay concluded the series by going 2-for-3 with three runs scored, a walk and a sacrifice bunt.

Beam, a sophomore from Coon Rapids, Minn. (Coon Rapids HS), threw eight innings of shutout baseball in the final game of the series against Louisiana Tech last week. Beam did not walk a batter and recorded six strikeouts. He only allowed three hits in his 1-0 shutout win.
