Two WAC softball players – Louisiana Tech’s Erin Kipp and New Mexico State’s Amber Olive – were named Capital One Academic All-Americans. Both players were named to the second team.
Kipp, a designated player from Bullard, Texas, boasts a 3.82 grade-point average in biology. A two-time Academic All-WAC honoree, she was a National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) second team All-Central Region honoree and was named second team All-WAC. On the field, she hit .349 with 51 hits and registered a team-best .555 slugging percentage.
Olive, a senior outfielder, posted a cumulative GPA of 3.88 and graduated with bachelor’s degrees in psychology and communication studies. The NM State Female Scholar Athlete of the Year, she was a first team All-WAC selection and second team All-Region honoree after hitting .393 with 79 hits and 41 runs scored.
