LUBBOCK, Texas--(CSUB Media Relations) Bakersfield's Jeff McKenzie (Sr., El Dorado Hills, Calif., San Joaquin Delta College) has been selected as 1-of-10 semifinalists for the Pitcher of the Year Award.
The winner of the Pitcher of the Year Award, sponsored by Diamond Sports, will be announced June 29 in Lubbock, Texas, as part of the annual College Baseball Night of Champions. The event features the presentation of numerous awards and the induction ceremony for this year's Hall of Fame class.
McKenzie, who was named as a Collegiate Baseball third team All-American May 30, was named the 2013 Western Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year after winning a school record 13 games (13-2) this season. A first team All-Conference selection, McKeznie posted a 1.88 ERA and 88 strikeouts in 114.2 innings. He only walked 24.
"The pitchers on this list continue to demonstrate excellence on the mound," said award chairman Raymond Richardson. "As we've progressed through the season, we've been able to narrow down the list, but many of the pitchers across the country have made it a tough task."
