Quick facts about the Chicago State University campus:
-CSU was founded as a teacher training school in a railroad freight car in Blue Island, Ill. in 1867. The original boxcar has been moved to Chicago State's current campus as a reminder of the school's origins.

-Chicago State has held the names Cook County Normal School, Chicago Normal School, Chicago Normal College, Chicago Teachers College and Illinois Teachers College: Chicago South. The Chicago State College name was adopted in 1967 before being renamed Chicago State University in 1971.   

-The school was located at 6800 South Steward Street for 102 years before being moved to it's current location at 9501 South King Drive in 1972.
