Kansas City 2, Southeast Missouri 1

Kansas City, Mo. - (UMKC Media Relations) The Kansas City women's soccer team rallied from a 1-0 halftime deficit to defeat the visiting Southeast Missouri State Redhawks 2-1 at Durwood Stadium on Sunday.

SEMO (0-2) struck first, just nine minutes in, on a Natasha Minor stick back off of a Christina Rohde miss. Goalkeeper Nina Tzianos blocked the initial attempt, but was unable to recover in time to impede Minor.

If the ‘Roos (2-0) were concerned, however, they never showed it. UMKC controlled possession from the outset, challenging SEMO goalkeeper Ashton Aubuchon repeatedly. Sarah Shaughnessy fired just over the crossbar in the fourth minute, followed by near misses and deflections on multiple occasions thereafter.
