The Cougars picked up their first win of the season, snapping a 32-match losing skid with a sweep of Delaware State (26-24, 25-22, 25-16) in their first match at the Candlewood Suites Challenge Friday. Chicago State hit .282 on the match, compared to the .176 of the Hornets. Paula Sioto led the Cougars with a career-high 16 kills on .538 hitting, while Mackenzie Lotter dished out 33 assists.

The Cougars gave head coach Toby Rens his 300th career victory with a sweep (25-16, 25-11, 25-13) of Saint Peter's in their second match of the day. Chicago State hit .381 on the match and held the Peacocks to .034. Sioto was even better in the nightcap, hitting .630 with a career-high 17 kills on 27 swings with no errors.
Texas-Pan American 3, Louisiana-Monroe 0
The Broncs opened up the Big Daddy’s Invitational with a sweep (25-18, 25-13, 25-16) of Louisiana-Monroe Friday at Memorial Gym on the campus of McNeese State. Texas-Pan American out-hit the Warhawks .289 to .045 on the match. Maria Kliefoth led the team with eight kills on .500 hitting, while Nycole Masaki dished out 27 assists.
Texas-Pan American 3, Prairie View A&M 0
UTPA is off to its third-best start in program history after sweeping Prairie View A&M (25-21, 25-22, 25-16) in its second match of the day Friday to improve to 8-3 on the season. The Broncs hit .283 on the match, compared to the .087 of Prairie View. Diara Reynolds recorded 10 kills to lead the Broncs, while Masaki had 34 assists and Nausheen Merchant recorded 10 digs.
Kansas City 3, Presbyterian College 1
Kansas City opened the Kangaroo Klassic with a 3-1 (25-17, 23-25, 25-20, 25-16) win over Presbyterian College Friday. The 'Roos hit .224 on the match, compared to the .106 of the Blue Hose. Sydney Crimmins led UMKC with a double-double of 14 kills and 14 digs, while Jessica Hendin also doubled up with 12 kills and 11 digs.
Kansas City 3, Eastern Illinois 0
The Kangaroos out-blocked the Panthers 13-1 en route to a sweep (25-23, 25-19, 25-16) of Eastern Illinois in their second match Friday. Morgan Voorhes had 11 kills, while Chloe Jarema added 10 in the victory. Emma Hagedorn led all players with eight blocks.
Idaho 3, Sacramento State 1
The Vandals remained undefeated in the Boise Volleyball Classic with a four-set win (25-21, 25-13, 20-25, 25-9) over Sacramento State Friday. Idaho hit .305 on the match, compared to the .134 of the Hornets. Katelyn Peterson led all players with 18 kills on .457 hitting, while Alyssa Schultz added 12 kills on .545 hitting. Jenna Ellis posted a match-high 24 digs.
New Mexico State 3, Southern Utah 1
The Aggies defeated Southern Utah in four sets (17-25, 25-21, 25-14, 25-20) in their first match of the NM State Tournament Friday morning. The Aggies hit .155 on the match and held the Thunderbirds to .069, despite being out-blocked 12-6. Lauren Loerch led all players with 15 kills to go along with 10 digs. Stephanie Ziegler posted a match-high 17 digs.
Arkansas-Little Rock 3, New Mexico State 1
The Aggies dropped their second match of the day, falling in four sets (25-22, 23-25, 21-25, 27-29) to UALR Friday night. New Mexico State was out-hit .252 to .198 in the loss. Loerch NM State with 18 kills to go along with nine digs. Ziegler led the Aggies with 18 digs.
Grand Canyon 3, Providence 0
The Antelopes swept past Providence (27-25, 25-15, 25-22) in their first match of the Big Green Invitational Friday morning. Grand Canyon hit .187 on the match, compared to the .147 of the Friars. Shannon Dugan led all players with 14 kills and 15 digs.
Central Connecticut State 3, Grand Canyon 2
Mackenzie Phelps set a WAC record with 52 digs in a five-set loss to Central Connecticut State Friday. After taking the first two sets, the Antelopes dropped the final three (25-17, 25-18, 27-29, 21-25, 12-15). Phelps broke the record set by Jessie Shull of San Jose State during the 2006 season. Dugan posted 20 kills and 13 digs in the match for her second double-double of the day.
No. 20 Oregon 3, Bakersfield 0
The Roadrunners played No. 20 Oregon close, but fell in straight sets (23-25, 22-25, 18-25) in their opening match of the Fresno State Classic Friday night. Bakersfield was out-hit .289 to .150 on the match. Debora Araujo led the Roadrunners with 14 kills, while Fernanda Goncalves was just shy of a double-double with 35 assists and nine digs..
Utah Valley 3, Idaho State 2
Utah Valley opened the Wolverine Classic with a five-set loss to Idaho State (12-25, 23-25, 26-24, 25-22, 9-15) Friday night. The Wolverines were out-hit .270 to .186 in the loss. Macky Treanor posted a double-double of 20 kills and 10 digs, while Brookelyn Hall also doubled up with 47 assists and 12 digs.
College of Charleston 3, Seattle U 1
The Redhawks dropped their seventh-straight match, falling in four sets (14-25, 18-25, 25-16, 22-25) to the College of Charleston in their first match of the LBSU/LMU Tournament Friday. Seattle U was out-hit .327 to .170 and out-blocked 12-5 in the loss. Iris Ivanis and Alec Goodrie tallied 10 kills each to pace the Redhawks.
