Kansas City picked up a win in the opening match of its back-to-back contests, knocking off SIU Edwardsville 3-1 (25-16, 22-25, 25-20, 25-22) Tuesday night at the Vadalabene Center. With the win, the ‘Roos improve to 6-5 on the year.
Kansas City out-hit SIUE .258 to .175 and out-blocked the Cougars 10-5. The 'Roos also had five service aces on the night.
Sydney Crimmins finished with a career-high 17 kills on .361 hitting to go along with 10 digs and four blocks. Kaylyn Brandt recorded her second double-double of the season with a career-high 34 assists, 13 digs and two service aces. Taryn Miller led the ‘Roos with 21 digs, while Jessica Hendin added 15 digs and seven kills.
Utah Valley 3, Weber State 0
The Wolverines snapped a five-match losing skid and picked up its first road win of the season with a sweep (25-17, 25-17, 25-19) of Weber State at Swenson Gym Tuesday. With the win, Utah Valley improves to 3-8 on the season.
The Wolverines hit .358 on the match, compared to the .156 of Weber State. Utah Valley also had five service aces in the win.
Kalani Norris paced UVU with 15 kills on .481 hitting, while Macky Treanor added 12 kills on a .407 clip. Brookelyn Hall dished out 36 assists to go along with seven digs.
Western Illinois 3, Chicago State 0
Chicago State lost for the second time in as many weeks to Western Illinois, falling in straight sets (13-25, 18-25, 23-25) at home Tuesday night at the Dickens Center. With the loss, the Cougars fall to 2-10 on the season.
The Westerwinds out-hit Chicago State .402 to .173 and out-blocked the Cougars 5-3.
Rachel Levitt led the Cougars with 13 kills, while Paula Sioto added 12 kills. Mackenzie Lotter dished out 21 assists to go along with seven digs, while Mia Townsell had a match-high 16 digs.
Cal State Northridge 3, Seattle U 0
The Redhawks dropped their 10th straight match, falling in straight sets (23-25, 18-25, 18-25) at Cal State Northridge Tuesday. With the loss, Seattle U falls to 2-11 on the season.
The Redhawks were out-hit .370 to .241 in the loss.
Alec Goodrie and Allison Farley led Seattle U with seven kills each. Goodrie hit .636 on the match. Kerry Lane finished with 24 assists, while Lani Beadle had 11 digs.
