DENVER – Seattle U’s Natasha Howe and Brianna Smallidge have been named Western Athletic Conference Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week for Aug. 26-Sept. 1.
Howe, a freshman forward from Mission Viejo, Calif. (Mission Viejo HS), came off the bench to score the game-winning overtime goal in a 2-1 victory over Boise State. Playing in just her third collegiate match, Howe scored her goal on the only shot she took in the match.
Smallidge, a sophomore goalkeeper from Port Orchard, Wash. (South Kitsap HS), earned her second win of the season in goal as she gave up only one goal in a 2-1 overtime win over Boise State last week. She made three saves in the match against the Broncos for a .750 save percentage.
