The Wolverines opened the Air Force Invitational with a sweep (25-23, 25-17, 25-23) of UC Riverside Friday. Utah Valley out-hit the Highlanders .273 to .122 and posted nine service aces in the win. Lauren Stringham finished with 10 kills on .833 hitting.
Utah Valley 3, Wyoming 1
The Wolverines defeated Wyoming in four sets (25-16, 25-17, 21-25, 25-17) Friday night to improve to 5-8 on the season. Utah Valley out-hit the Cowgirls .271 to .147 and out-blocked Wyoming 9-7. Kalani Norris paced the Wolverines with 11 kills, while McKenna Tait had 22 digs.
New Mexico State 3, Hampton 1
The Aggies moved to 4-7 on the season with a three-set win (28-26, 25-11, 24-26, 25-22) over Hampton Friday. New Mexico State hit .163 on the match, compared to the .068 of Hampton. The Aggies also held a 14-7 advantage in blocks. Desiree Scott led NM State with 15 kills, while Taylor Livoti posted a double-double of 16 assists and 13 digs.
Idaho 3, Nevada 0
The Vandals closed out the non-conference portion of their schedule with a sweep (25-21, 25-17, 25-23) of Nevada at the Cougar Classic Friday. Idaho hit .294, compared to the .212 of the Wolf Pack. The Vandals posted nine service aces in the win. Katelyn Peterson led Idaho with 13 kills on .407 hitting, while Alyssa Schultz added 10 kills.
Long Beach State 3, Bakersfield 0
The Roadrunners opened the Baden Classic with a three-set loss (20-25, 21-25, 13-25) to host Long Beach State Friday morning. Bakersfield hit .146, compared to the .321 of the 49ers. The Roadrunners were out-blocked 11-4.5 in the loss. Kelsee Sawyer posted a team-high 11 kills, while Debora Araujo had a double-double of 10 kills and 12 digs. Fernanda Goncalves also doubled up with 13 assists and 10 digs.
Bakersfield 3, Prairie View A&M 0
In the nightcap, the Roadrunners swept Prairie View A&M (25-11, 25-12, 25-20) to improve to 7-5 on the season. Bakersfield out-hit the Panthers .287 to -.019, and out-blocked Prairie View 9-0. Araujo paced Bakersfield with 11 kills and nine digs, while Mariah Alvidrez posted a match-high 14 digs.
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 3, Texas-Pan American 0
The Broncs fell in straight sets (14-25, 18-25, 19-25) at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Friday. The Islanders out-hit Texas-Pan American .374 to .129, while the Broncs out-blocked Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 6-1. Maria Kliefoth led UTPA with seven kills, while Nausheen Merchant posted a team-high 20 digs.
Washington State 3, Seattle U 0
The Redhawks dropped their 11th straight match, falling in straight sets (13-25, 15-25, 20-25) at Washington State Friday. The Cougars out-hit Seattle U .418 to .120, but the Redhawks held the edge in blocks, 4-3. Iris Ivanis led Seattle U with six kills and six digs.
