KANSAS CITY’S CRIMMINS NAMED WAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Kansas City sophomore right-side hitter Sydney Crimmins has been named Western Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 23-29. This is the first-ever WAC Player of the Week honor for Crimmins.

The Clay Center, Kan., native led the Kangaroos to their first-ever WAC wins and a perfect 2-0 record on the road, averaging WAC-bests of 4.38 kills and 4.94 points per set. She had a .325 hitting percentage and added 2.50 digs and 0.88 blocks per set on the week. Crimmins opened the week with her team-leading fifth double-double of the season, posting a career-high 23 kills to go along with 16 digs in a five-set win at Grand Canyon. She followed it up with a team-high 12 kills on a season-high .500 hitting, while adding five blocks at Chicago State.

Other nominees included: Bakersfield’s Mariah Alvidrez averaged 4.62 digs and 0.62 assists as the Roadrunners went 1-1 on the week ... Kaitlyn Ausmus of Grand Canyon averaged 3.60 kills and 3.0 digs as the Antelopes went 1-1 on the week ... Idaho’s Alyssa Schultz averaged 2.67 kills on .404 hitting and 1.56 blocks per set as the Vandals went 1-1 on the week ... Desiree Scott of New Mexico State averaged 2.56 kills and 2.00 blocks per set as the Aggies went 1-1 on the week ... Seattle U’s Iris Ivanis averaged 3.22 kills and 1.89 digs per set as the Redhawks went 1-1 on the week ... Nycole Masaki of Texas-Pan American averaged 8.25 assists, 2.88 digs and 0.63 blocks per set last week ... Lauren Stringham of Utah Valley averaged 3.00 kills on .304 hitting to go along with 2.00 blocks per set as the Wolverines went 1-1 on the week.

WAC STAT LEADERS
Bakersfield leads the WAC in assists (13.49) and kills (14.05), while Grand Canyon is tops in opponent hitting percentage (.165) and digs (17.38). Meanwhile, Idaho is tops in hitting percentage (.248), Kansas City leads the league in blocks (2.90) and Texas-Pan American is tops in service aces (1.69).
 
Individually, Bakersfield’s Debora Araujo leads the WAC in kills (3.71) and points (4.12), while Utah Valley’s McKenna Tait is tops in service aces (0.41). Idaho’s Alyssa Schultz leads the WAC in hitting percentage (.405) and teammate Meredith Coba leads the league in assists (10.27). Kansas City’s Emma Hagedorn leads the WAC in blocks (1.41), while Grand Canyon’s Mackenzie Phelps is tops in digs (5.78).

In WAC matches only, Kansas City leads the WAC in assists (13.38) and kills (14.12), while Grand Canyon is tops in hitting percentage (.229) and digs (19.50). Meanwhile, New Mexico State is tops in opponent hitting percentage (.064), Utah Valley leads the league in blocks (3.55) and Bakersfield is tops in service aces (1.50).

Individually in WAC matches, Kansas City’s Sydney Crimmins leads the WAC in kills (4.38) and points (4.94), while Chicago State’s Madeleine Radtke is tops in hitting percentage (.474). Seattle U’s Kerry Lane leads the league in assists (9.78), while Bakersfield’s Star Tucker-Campbell is tops in service aces (1.00). New Mexico State’s Desiree Scott leads the WAC in blocks (2.25), while Phelps is tops in digs (6.00).

GCU’S PHELPS BREAKS WAC RECORD FOR DIGS IN A MATCH
In a heartbreaking five-set loss to Central Connecticut State on Sept. 13, Grand Canyon junior libero Mackenzie Phelps set a Grand Canyon and WAC single-match record with 52 digs. Phelps broke the previous record of 47 set by Jessie Shull of San Jose State during the 2006 season.

WAC TOURNAMENT TICKETS ON SALE NOW
Tickets for the 2013 WAC Volleyball Tournament, which will be held Nov. 25-27 at Grand Canyon University Arena in Phoenix, Ariz., are on sale now. All-session tickets, which are general admission seating and gets you admission all five matches, are $23. Tickets can be purchased at www.gcuarena.com.

Single session tickets go on sale Monday, Nov. 25, at the arena box office.

2013 WAC TOURNAMENT
The 2013 WAC Volleyball Tournament will be held Nov. 25-27 at Grand Canyon Arena on the campus of Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Ariz., and will include the top six eligible teams in the regular-season standings.

BAKERSFIELD ROADRUNNERS (8-7, 1-1 WAC)
The Roadruuners opened WAC play with a road win at Seattle U (13-25, 25-20, 25-22, 25-18) last Thursday before falling at Idaho on Saturday (25-22, 14-25, 17-25, 17-25) ... Mariah Alvidrez had 14 digs against Seattle U and 23 against Idaho ... Alvidrez has recorded at least 10 digs in all 15 matches this season has posted 20 or more six times ... Fernanda Gonçalves moved into seventh place in the Bakersfield record books for career assists (1,656) ... As a team, the Roadrunners lead the WAC in assists (13.49) and kills (14.05), rank second in hitting percentage (.210) and service aces (1.36), and third in digs (15.76) ... Debora Araujo leads the WAC in kills per set (3.71) and points per set (4.12) ... Molly O’Hagan ranks second in the WAC in hitting percentage (.372), and fifth in both kills (3.15) and points (3.60) ... CHICAGO STATE COUGARS (2-14, 0-2 WAC)
The Cougars fell at Indiana State (25-15, 18-25, 18-25, 16-25) last Tuesday, then opened WAC play with losses to Grand Canyon (25-21, 25-23, 19-25, 19-25, 7-15) last Saturday and Kansas City (22-25, 19-25, 20-25) on Sunday ... Mackenzie Lotter recorded a career-high 51 assists vs. Grand Canyon ... As a team, Chicago State ranks third in the league in service aces (1.30) ... Lotter ranks third in the WAC in assists per set (9.02) and is the only freshman in the top five ... Madeleine Radtke leads the WAC in hitting percentage (.474) in conference matches ... Paula Sioto has recorded double-digit kills in seven of the Cougars’ last eight matches ... Julia Menhart ranks second in the WAC in service aces per set (0.40), while teammate Mia Townsell is 10th (0.28) ... Townsell also ranks fifth in the conference in digs (3.70) ... GRAND CANYON ANTELOPES (7-6, 1-1 WAC)
The Antelopes fell in five sets (27-29, 25-15, 23-25, 26-24, 10-15) to Kansas City last Thursday, then picked up their first-ever WAC win at Chicago State (21-25, 23-25, 25-19, 25-19, 15-7) on Saturday ... Kaitlynn Ausmus had career highs in both kills (23) and digs (22) against Kansas City ... Jessica Posse and Hayleigh Friemoth both posted double-doubles at Chicago State. Posse had a career-high 35 assists and 11 digs, while Friemoth had 16 kills and 13 digs ... Head coach Kris Naber notched her 299th career victory at Chicago State. The winningest coach in program history, she was the program’s first-ever All-American, earning NAIA honors in 1989 ... As a team, the Antelopes lead the WAC in opponent hitting percentage (.165) and digs (17.38) ... The WAC’s active leader in career digs, Mackenzie Phelps has 1,540 on her career and is 200 shy of the program record ... The Antelopes play at Idaho on Monday and host Seattle U on Wednesday.

IDAHO VANDALS  (8-6, 1-1 WAC)
The Vandals fell in five sets (25-22, 22-25, 25-19, 21-25 11-15) to Utah Valley last Thursday and defeated Bakersfield in four sets (22-25, 25-14, 25-17, 25-17) on Saturday to open WAC play ... Idaho’s .168 hitting percentage against Utah Valley was a season-low ... Two Vandals had double-doubles vs. Bakersfield as Meredith Coba had 41 assists and 12 digs, while Katelyn Peterson had 10 kills and 12 digs. It was the second double-double of the season for Coba and the first for Peterson ... Alyssa Schultz leads the WAC with a .405 hitting percentage this season ... her career hitting percentage is currently an Idaho program record .346 ... Schultz has 298 career block assists, 28 shy of entering Idaho’s all-time top-10 in that category ... The Vandals lead the WAC in hitting percentage (.248) and rank second in kills (12.91) ... Idaho hosts Grand Canyon on Monday, then plays at Texas-Pan American on Thursday and at New Mexico State on Saturday.

KANSAS CITY KANGAROOS (8-6, 2-0 WAC)
The ‘Roos defeated Grand Canyon (29-27, 15-25, 25-23, 24-26, 15-10) last Thursday and swept Chicago State (25-22, 25-19, 25-20) on Sunday ... Four  Kansas City players recorded double-doubles against the Antelopes. Sydney Crimmins had a career-high 23 kills to go along with 16 digs, while Jessica Hendin notched 15 kills and a career-high 20 digs. Chloe Jarema tallied her first career double-double with 12 kills and 10 digs, while Nicole Wemhoff added 32 assists and 10 digs ... Taryn Miller posted a career-high 37 digs and Kaylyn Brandt recorded a career-best 33 assists ... Against the Cougars, Crimmins had 12 kills on .500 hitting to go along with five blocks ... The ‘Roos rank eighth in the nation blocks (2.90) and 22nd in digs (16.67) ... Emma Hagedorn leads the WAC and ranks 17th nationally in blocks (1.41), while Miller is third in the WAC and 26th nationally in digs (5.04) ... Kansas City ranks second in the WAC in assists (11.89) and digs (16.67) ... The ‘Roos play at Utah Valley on Thursday and at Bakersfield on Saturday.

NEW MEXICO STATE AGGIES (6-8, 1-0 WAC)
The Aggies fell in five sets (17-25, 25-23, 25-19, 12-25, 10-15) to in-state rival New Mexico last Monday, then opened WAC play with a four-set win (20-25, 25-14, 25-17, 25-13) at Texas-Pan American on Saturday ... In the loss to the Lobos, Desiree Scott had a match-high 14 kills to go along with nine blocks ... Scott finished with nine kills on .316 hitting to go along with nine blocks against the Broncs ... As a team, the Aggies rank second in the WAC in opponent hitting percentage (.168), and fourth in hitting percentage (.184) and blocks (2.18) ... Scott ranks third in the WAC in hitting percentage (.319), fourth in blocks (1.17) and 10th in points (3.20) ... Lauren Loerch ranks ninth in points (3.32) and 10th in kills (2.80) ... Taylor Livoti is tied for the WAC lead with six double-doubles on the season, while Loerch and Bradley Nash have two apiece ... The Aggies host Bakersfield on Monday, Idaho on Saturday and Seattle U on Sunday.

SEATTLE U REDHAWKS (4-13, 1-1 WAC)
The Redhawks fell in four sets (25-13, 20-25, 22-25, 18-25) to Bakersfield last Thursday, then defeated Utah Valley in five sets (25-22, 14-25, 27-25, 23-25, 15-13) on Saturday ... In the loss to the Roadrunners, Martina Samadan had a team-high 11 kills, while Iris Ivanis added 10 kills and nine digs ... In the win over the Wolverines, Ivanis had 19 kills, a season high for both herself and the Redhawks as a team ... Allison Farley tied her career high with 16 kills and Alec Goodrie also established a career high with 11 kills ... Kerry Lane dished out 54 assists and McKenzie Daniels posted a career-high 19 digs ... The match against Utah Valley was Seattle U’s first five-set match of the season in its 17th match of the year ... Farley ranks 10th in the WAC in hitting percentage (.254), while Lane is sixth in assists (8.15) ... The Redhawks play at Grand Canyon on Wednesday, at Texas-Pan American on Friday and at New Mexico State on Sunday.

TEXAS-PAN AMERICAN BRONCS (10-7, 0-1 WAC)
The Broncs fell at Texas Southern (25-22, 24-26, 22-25, 20-25) last Monday, then opened WAC play with a four-set loss (25-20, 14-25, 17-25, 13-25) to New Mexico State on Saturday ... Nycole Masaki had her third double-double of season at Texas Southern, finishing with 35 assists, 14 digs and a career-high six kills ... Krysta Freitas recorded her first double-double of the season with a season-high 11 kills and 10 digs against the Tigers ... Anjané Janda led the Broncs with 10 kills, while Masaki had a career-high five blocks in the WAC opener vs. New Mexico State ... The Broncs lead the WAC and rank 22nd in the nation with 1.69 service aces per set ... Macey Singleton, Masaki and Freitas rank fourth (0.35), fifth (0.35) and eighth (0.32), respectively, in the WAC in service aces per set ... Maria Kliefoth is fourth in the WAC in hitting percentage (.317), while Haley Durham is eighth in blocks (1.02) ... The Broncs host Utah Valley on Monday, Idaho on Wednesday and Seattle U on Friday.

UTAH VALLEY WOLVERINES (7-9, 1-1 WAC)
The Wolverines defeated Idaho in five sets (22-25, 25-22, 19-25, 25-21, 15-11) last Thursday to open WAC play, then fell in five sets (22-25, 25-14, 25-27, 25-23, 13-15) at Seattle U on Saturday ... Against Idaho, Lauren Stringham had a career-high 18 kills and added eight blocks, while McKenna Tait had a match-high 27 digs ... Against Seattle U, Macky Treanor had 19 kills, Kalani Norris had 17 kills and Stringham recorded her second double-double of the season with 12 kills and a career-high-tying 12 blocks ... Tait leads the WAC in service aces (0.41) and ranks fourth in digs (3.72), while Treanor ranks second in both kills (3.57) and points (4.05) ... Brookelyn Hall is second in the conference in assists (9.30) ... As a team, the Wolverines rank second in the conference in blocks (2.30), third in hitting percentage (.207) and fourth in service aces (1.28) ...
