DENVER – Kansas City sophomore right-side hitter Sydney Crimmins has been named Western Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 23-29. This is the first-ever WAC Player of the Week honor for Crimmins.

The Clay Center, Kan., native led the Kangaroos to their first-ever WAC wins and a perfect 2-0 record on the road, averaging WAC-bests of 4.38 kills and 4.94 points per set. She had a .325 hitting percentage and added 2.50 digs and 0.88 blocks per set on the week. Crimmins opened the week with her team-leading fifth double-double of the season, posting a career-high 23 kills to go along with 16 digs in a five-set win at Grand Canyon. She followed it up with a team-high 12 kills on a season-high .500 hitting, while adding five blocks at Chicago State.

Other nominees included: Bakersfield’s Mariah Alvidrez averaged 4.62 digs and 0.62 assists as the Roadrunners went 1-1 on the week ... Kaitlyn Ausmus of Grand Canyon averaged 3.60 kills and 3.0 digs as the Antelopes went 1-1 on the week ... Idaho’s Alyssa Schultz averaged 2.67 kills on .404 hitting and 1.56 blocks per set as the Vandals went 1-1 on the week ... Desiree Scott of New Mexico State averaged 2.56 kills and 2.00 blocks per set as the Aggies went 1-1 on the week ... Seattle U’s Iris Ivanis averaged 3.22 kills and 1.89 digs per set as the Redhawks went 1-1 on the week ... Nycole Masaki of Texas-Pan American averaged 8.25 assists, 2.88 digs and 0.63 blocks per set last week ... Lauren Stringham of Utah Valley averaged 3.00 kills on .304 hitting to go along with 2.00 blocks per set as the Wolverines went 1-1 on the week.
