DENVER — Kansas City’s Jordan Rideout and San Jose State’s Emmanuel Espinosa have been named the Western Athletic Conference Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week for September 23-29.
Rideout, a junior forward from Southport, England (Blue Valley North HS, Ks.), scored a goal in the 43rd minute of Kansas City’s 1-1 tie against Omaha last week. It was the 16th of his career, tying him for eighth all time at UMKC. For the week, Rideout had eight shots, including four on goal, in the ‘Roos two matches.
Espinosa, a sophomore goalkeeper from San Jose, Calif. (Evergreen Valley HS), posted his first shutout of the season in a scoreless tie against Saint Mary’s on Sunday night. He had a season-high seven saves, including one in each of the overtime periods, in recording his third clean sheet of his career.
Other offensive nominees included: sophomore forward Alberto Sanchez, Grand Canyon.
Defensive nominees included: senior defender Jamiesh Holait, Grand Canyon.
