Texas-Pan American 3, Jackson State 0
Texas-Pan American swept Jackson State (25-16, 25-17, 25-21) in its first match of the Sugar Bear Classic Friday morning. The Broncs out-hit Jackson State .290 to .119. Maria Kliefoth led UTPA with 10 kills, while Nycole Masaki dished out 39 assists.

Texas-Pan American 3, Arkansas-Pine Bluff 0
The Broncs picked up their second win of the Sugar Bear Classic Friday afternoon, sweeping Arkansas-Pine Bluff (25-22, 25-16, 25-20). UTPA posted nine service aces in the win and out-hit UAPB .168 to .094. Haley Durham led all players with 10 kills.

Bakersfield 3, Presbyterian 0
The Roadrunners swept Presbyterian College (25-18, 25-16, 25-20) to win their opening match at the James Madison Classic Friday. Bakersfield out-hit Presbyterian .274 to .168 in the win. Danika Youngblood led all players with 12 kills, while Fernanda Gonçalves posted her second double-double of the season with 35 assists and 10 digs.

No. 10 UCLA 3, New Mexico State 0
The Aggies fell in straight sets (15-25, 22-25, 12-25) to No. 10 UCLA at the Wahine Classic Friday. New Mexico State was out-hit .368 to .141, out-blocked 10-5 and out-dug 28-23. Lauren Loerch led the Aggies with nine kills on .368 hitting, while Ciara Brown tallied 12 assists.

Utah Valley 3, Eastern Kentucky 1
The wolverines improved to 2-3 on the season with a four-set win over Eastern Kentucky (25-21, 28-26, 21-25, 33-31) in their first match of the Arizona Desert Classic Friday. Utah Valley out-hit EKU .222 to .155 and out-blocked the Colonels 12-7. Macky Treanor led all players with 21 kills and added 12 digs for her second double-double of the season. Brookelyn Hall also posted a double-double of 43 assists and 15 digs.

Cal State Northridge 3, Idaho 2
The Vandals forced a fifth set but fell to Cal State Northridge (25-18, 23-25, 16-25, 25-22, 8-15) at the Fiesta Bowl Classic Friday. After Idaho led 7-5 in the fifth, the Matadors reeled off a 10-1 run to close the match. The Vandals hit .214 on the match, compared to the .270 of Northridge. Jessica Hastriter led Idaho with a career-high 17 kills.

Maryland 3, Kansas City 2
After taking the first two sets, the Kangaroos opened the Maryland Invitational with a five-set loss (25-21, 25-23, 21-25, 13-25, 6-15) to host Maryland Friday. Kansas City was out-hit .167 to .022 on the match. Emma Hagrdorn led the 'Roos with 10 kills

Illinois State 3, Grand Canyon 2
The Antelopes came back from a two-set deficit, but fell just shy of their first win of the season, falling in five sets to Illinois State (12-25, 16-25, 25-17, 25-16, 12-15) at the Wolf Pack Invitational Friday. Grand Canyon was out-hit .180 to .087 in the loss. Megan Davis and Kaitlynn Ausmus each posted double-doubles. Davis had 13 kills and 13 digs, while Ausmus added 13 kills and 12 digs.

Arizona State 3, Seattle U 0
The Redhawks dropped their third-straight match, falling to Arizona State in three sets (13-25, 26-28, 15-25) in their first match of the Gonzaga Invitational Friday. The Sun Devils out-hit Seattle U .322 to .066. Iris Ivanis and Allison Farley led the Redhawks with seven kills each.

Denver 3, Chicago State 0
The Cougars fell in straight sets (10-25, 8-25, 21-25) to Denver in their first match at the UIC Invitational Friday. Chicago State hit -.010 on the match, compared to the .449 of the Pioneers. Paula Sioto paced the Cougars with 10 kills, while Mia Townsell had a match-high 15 digs.
