Idaho 76, Texas-Pan American 65
The Vandals remained unbeaten in WAC play with a 76-65 win over Texas-Pan American Thursday night at the Cowan Spectrum. With the win, Idaho improves to 10-7 on the season and 3-0 in WAC play. The Broncs drop to 7-8 overall and 1-1 in the WAC with the loss.
The Vandals shot 54 percent from the field, 50 percent from three-point range and 56 percent from the free throw line on the game. UTPA connected on 34 percent from the floor, 40 percent from beyond the arc and 64 percent from the charity stripe on the game. Idaho won the rebounding battle, 41-32.
Stacey Barr posted her sixth double-double of the year, finishing with a game-high 29 points and 11 rebounds. Christina Salvatore and Alyssa Charlston added 12 points apiece, while Ali Forde finished with 10. Connie Ballestero dished out six assists.
Shawnte' Goff paced the Broncs with 12 points, while Cherrell Price finished with 11.
Grand Canyon 78, Bakersfield 64
The Antelopes snapped the Roadrunners' four-game winning streak and remained undefeated at home with a 78-64 win over Bakersfield at GCU Arena Thursday. With the victory, Grand Canyon improves to 12-4 overall and 1-2 in WAC play. The Roadrunners fall to 7-7 on the season and 1-1 in the WAC.
The Antelopes shot 43 percent from the field, 39 percent from three-point range and 86 percent from the free throw line on the game. Bakersfield connected on 31 percent from the floor, 28 percent from downtown and 68 percent from the line. GCU edged the Roadrunners on the boards, 45-43.
Kaitlyn Petersen led all players with 25 points, while Deanna Daniels added 15, Johnna Brown had 14 and Astrea Reed finished with 11. Jenna Pearson and Asha McDonald both pulled down a team-high nine rebounds.
Tyonna Outland paced Bakersfield with 19 points, while Alyssa Shannon had 15 and Melissa Sweat added 14. Batabe Zempare grabbed a game-high 12 boards, while Shannon nabbed a game-high four steals.
Seattle U 61, New Mexico State 51
The Redhawks defeated New Mexico State 61-51 Thursday at the Connolly Center. With the win, Seattle U improves to 7-9 overall and 2-1 in WAC play. The Aggies fall to 4-11 on the season and 1-1 in the WAC.
The Redhawks shot 41 percent from the field, 23 percent from three-point range and 67 percent from the free throw line on the game. NM State connected on 32 percent from the floor, 19 percent from beyond the arc and 40 percent from the charity stripe on the game. Seattle U dominated the boards, 51-35.
Kacie Sowell led all players with 17 points and nine rebounds. Ashley Ward added 16 points, while Sylvia Shephard finished with 14 points and eight boards.
Danesia Williamson led the Aggies with 12 points, while Moriah Mack added 10.
