DENVER — Grand Canyon’s Iegor Lytvenok and Bakersfield’s Tyler Greenwald have been named the Western Athletic Conference Men’s Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively, for January 6-12.
Lytvenok, a sophomore from Kryviy Rig, Ukraine (MP Dragomanov National Pedagogic University), won four individual events in two dual meets at North Dakota over the weekend. On Friday, Lytvenok won the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:11.35 and the 100 backstroke with a time of 48.91. The following day, he won the 200 IM (1:49.58) and 100 free (44.87) while also leading off the 400 medley relay which broke a 22-year-old pool record (3:16.92). The Antelopes won both meets against North Dakota.
Greenwald, a freshman from Henderson, Nev. (Coronado HS), won the 1-meter diving event in a dual meet against UC San Diego with a score of 270.15. He finished in second place on the 3-meter board with a score of 291.10. Both scores were season bests for Greenwald.
Other swimmers nominated: Bakersfield junior Mitchell Huxhold; and Seattle U junior Bart Wanot.
