The Vandals won their sixth-straight game, defeating Bakersfield 96-69 Saturday afternoon at the Icardo Center. With the win, Idaho improves to 13-7 overall and 6-0 in WAC play. The Roadrunners fall to 8-8 on the season and 2-2 in the WAC with the loss.
Idaho shot a season-high 58 percent from the field, 56 percent from three-point range and 67 percent from the free throw line on the game. Bakersfield connected on 41 percent from the floor, 15 percent from downtown and 70 percent from the charity stripe. The Vandals won the rebounding battle, 40-32.
Stacey Barr led all players with 23 points, while Ali Forde added 16. Connie Ballestero and Brooke Reilly tallied 12 points apiece, while Alyssa Charlston finished with 11. Christina Salvatore grabbed a team-high nine rebounds, while Barr dished out six assists.
The Roadrunners were led by Melissa Sweat with 18 points, while Tyonna Outland added 13. Batabe Zempare posted a double-double of 12 points and 11 boards.
Seattle U 75, at Utah Valley 67
The Redhawks held on to defeat Utah Valley 75-67 Saturday afternoon at the PE Building. With the win, Seattle U improves to 9-10 overall and 4-2 in the WAC. The Wolverines drop to 3-14 on the season and 0-4 in WAC play with the loss.
The Redhawks shot 42 percent from the field, 31 percent from three-point range and 67 percent from the free throw line on the game. Utah Valley connected on 47 percent from the floor, 36 percent from beyond the arc and 54 percent from the line. Seattle U out-rebounded the Wolverines 43-35.
Ashley Ward led the Redhawks with 15 points, while Sylvia Shephard added 13 and Kacie Sowell had 11.
Rhaiah Spooner-Knight led all players with 18 points, while Sam Loggins added 13 and Whitney Jenkins finished with 12.
Texas-Pan American 66, Chicago State 44
The Broncs cruised to a 66-44 win over Chicago State at the UTPA Fieldhouse Saturday. With the win, Texas-Pan American improves to 9-9 on the season and 3-2 in WAC play. The Cougars fall to 3-15 on the season and 0-5 in the WAC.
The Broncs shot 37 percent from the field, 40 percent from three-point range and 70 percent from the free throw line on the game. Chicago State connected on 36 percent from the floor, 23 percent from downtown and 50 percent from the line. Both team pulled down 38 rebounds, but the Cougars committed 24 turnovers in the loss.
Shawnte' Goff led UTPA with 18 points and four steals, while Jasmine Thompson added 10 points and Brittany Bush grabbed a game-high 12 boards.
Tierra Williams led Chicago State with 20 points, while Tashuna Brown led the team with 11 rebounds.
New Mexico State 106, Kansas City 77
The Aggies defeated Kansas City 106-77 Saturday at the Pan American Center, scoring more than 100 points for the 26th time in program history. With the win, New Mexico State improves to 6-12 overall and 3-2 in the WAC. The Kangaroos fall to 6-12 on the season and 2-3 in WAC play.
The Aggies shot 49 percent from the field, 42 percent from three-point range and 63 percent from the free throw line on the game. Kansas City connected on 32 percent from the floor, 20 percent from beyond the arc and 85 percent from the charity stripe. The 'Roos won the rebounding battle, 50-45.
Danesia Williamson led a group of five Aggies in double-digit scoring with 30 points. Abby Scott added 25 points, while Sasha Weber finished with 20. Brianna Freeman had 14 points, Moriah Mack added 10 and Tyler Ellis grabbed a team-high 10 boards.
Kansas City was paced by Eilise O'Connor with 35 points and 12 rebounds. Calli White added 12 points, while Kim Nezianya also doubled up with 10 points and 12 boards.
