Texas-Pan American 84, Chicago State 61

CHICAGO, Ill. –(UTPA Media Relations) One game after scoring 78 points in their first Western Athletic Conference (WAC) win, the University of Texas-Pan American Broncs men's basketball won their second game in a row, 84-61 over the Chicago State University Cougars, who had previously been undefeated in WAC play, on Saturday at Jones Convocation Center.

It is the Broncs' (6-14, 2-3 WAC) fourth road win of the season, their highest total since winning six in 2007-08.

Kansas City 68, New Mexico State 66

Kansas City, Mo. –(UMKC Media Relations) Kansas City men’s basketball snapped its two game skid in a big way on Saturday night, upsetting league favorite New Mexico State 68-66 behind freshman Martez Harrison’s 21-point, seven assist outing.

“There are all different levels of toughness, and we definitely showed some down the stretch tonight,” UMKC Head Coach Kareem Richardson said. “It was a team effort on the backboards (against a bigger team), we got rebounds from our guards. The defensive effort was a key component for us tonight.”

Idaho 64, Bakersfield 61

MOSCOW, Idaho – (UI Media Relations) The Idaho men’s basketball team was finally on the right side of a down-to-the-wire game in the Cowan Spectrum, as the Vandals outlasted Bakersfield in a 64-61 win on Saturday night.

The Vandals lost five games by six or fewer points in their previous five games inside the Spectrum, but went 6-for-6 from the free throw line in the final 20 seconds on Saturday night to fend off the Roadrunners.

Idaho junior point guard Mike Scott finished with a career-high 20 points and added five rebounds and a career-high six assists in the game. He went 7-of-9 from the field, 4-of-6 from 3-point range and 2-of-2 from the free throw line, and committed just two turnovers in 38 minutes of action.
