DENVER — Idaho’s Rachel Millet and Paige Hunt have been named the Western Athletic Conference Women’s Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively, for January 13-19.
Millet, a junior from Spokane, Wash. (Ferris HS), won all three individual events she competed in during a dual meet at New Mexico State. Millet won the 100-yard backstroke (56.66), the 200 backstroke (2:04.11) and the 200 individual medley (2:07.42). She also swam the leadoff leg of the winning 200 medley relay as the Vandals won the meet, 173-127.
Hunt, a senior from Mesa, Ariz. (Mesa CC), won the 3-meter springboard in a dual meet at New Mexico State with a score of 299.92. She scored 30 more points than the second place finisher in the event. Hunt added a second place finish on the 1-meter with a score of 258.82, just four points behind the winner.
Other swimmers nominated: Bakersfield sophomore Michaela Paige; New Mexico State sophomore Dorottya Lennert; North Dakota senior Morgan Lynch; and Northern Colorado senior Gina Riggle.
Other divers nominated: Bakersfield freshman Carlee Burks; New Mexico State sophomore Audrey Ruiz; and Northern Colorado sophomore Kelsey Smith.
