DENVER — Grand Canyon’s Iryna Glavnyk and Idaho’s Paige Hunt have been named the Western Athletic Conference Women’s Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively, for January 20-26.

Glavnyk, a freshman from Kiev, Ukraine (All-Republic Higher Specialized School in Physical Education), won both the 100-yard backstroke and 200-yard backstroke in a meet that included WAC teams Northern Arizona and New Mexico State.  Glavnyk swam a time of 1:59.82 in the 200 back to set a new school record and post the second fastest time in the WAC this year.  She was also part of the winning 400 medley and 400 free relays.  Her leadoff time in the 100 backstroke on the 400 medley relay was 55.27, the second fastest time in the WAC and another school record.

Hunt, a senior from Mesa, Ariz. (Mesa CC), set a new school record on the 3-meter diving board with a score of 331.36 in a dual meet against Oregon State last Saturday.  Her score is also the best in the WAC this season.  Hunt swept both events by winning the 1-meter board with a score of 279.59.

Other swimmers nominated: Bakersfield freshman Paola Hernandez; Idaho junior Rachel Millet; North Dakota senior Morgan Lynch; and Seattle U freshman Carlee Bock.

Other divers nominated: Bakersfield freshman Carlee Burks; and North Dakota senior Rachael Waldbillig.
