DENVER — Seattle U’s Tanner Schelling and North Dakota’s Rick Eberle have been named the Western Athletic Conference Men’s Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively, for January 20-26.
Schelling, a freshman from Boise, Idaho (Centennial HS), helped the Redhawks to a 131-125 victory over Simon Fraser last Saturday. Schelling won the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 21.03, the fastest in-season time in Seattle U history. He followed that up with a second place finish in the 100 free (46.93). Schelling also swam the second leg of the meet-deciding 200 free relay, helping Seattle U win the event and the dual meet.
Eberle, a senior from Fort Collins, Colo. (Colorado State), swept both springboard diving events in a dual meet win over South Dakota on Saturday. Eberle won the 1-meter board with a score of 293.60 and the 3-meter with a score of 325.55.
