Idaho 81, Kansas City 64
The Vandals used a dominant first half to defeat Kansas City 81-64 to open WAC play at the Swinney Recreation Center Thursday. With the win, Idaho improves to 8-7 overall and 1-0 in the WAC. The Kangaroos fall to 4-10 on the season and 0-1 in WAC play.

Idaho shot 44 percent from the field, 31 percent from three-point range and 76 percent from the free throw line on the game. Kansas City connected on 36 percent from the floor, 27 percent from downtown and 80 percent from the charity stripe on the game. The 'Roos won the rebounding battle, 41-38.

Alyssa Charlston and Christina Salvatore paced the Vandals with 17 points each, while Stacey Barr added 13, Ali Forde finished with 12 and Connie Ballestero had 10. Forde grabbed a team-high eight boards and blocked four shots.

Kansas City's Eilise O'Connor led all players with 16 points and eight assists, while Kim Nezianya posted a double-double of 15 points and 11 rebounds. Grace Mitchell added 11 points and Taylor Leathers had 10.

Texas-Pan American 60, Grand Canyon 58
The Broncs opened WAC play with a 60-58 win over Grand Canyon at the UTPA Fieldhouse Thursday. With the win, Texas-Pan American improves to 7-7 on the season and 1-0 in WAC play. The Antelopes fall to 11-3 overall and 0-1 in the WAC.

UTPA shot 34 percent from the field, 32 percent from three-point range and 81 percent from the free throw line on the game. Grand Canyon connected on 40 percent from the floor, 29 percent from beyond the arc and 86 percent from the line. The Broncs out-rebounded the 'Lopes 39-31.

Shawnte' Goff led UTPA with 14 points, while Alexandria Hill added 12 points. Jasmine Thompson finished with 11 points and a team-high seven rebounds, while Cherrell Price tallied 10 points.

Asha McDonnell led Grand Canyon with 17 points, eight rebounds, five blocks and two steals. Kaitlyn Petersen added 15 points and seven assists, while Deanna Daniels grabbed a team-high nine boards.

Seattle U 85, Chicago State 58
The reigning WAC regular-season champion Redhawks cruised to an 85-58 win over Chicago State to open WAC play at the Jones Convocation Center Thursday night. With the win, Seattle U improves to 6-8 on the season and 1-0 in the WAC. The Cougars fall to 2-11 overall and 0-1 in WAC play.

The Redhawks shot a blazing 65 percent from the field, 50 percent from three-point range and 76 percent from the free throw line on the game. Chicago State connected on 41 percent from the floor, 14 percent from downtown and 55 percent from the charity stripe. Seattle U dominated the boards, 35-21.

Kacie Sowell led all players with 21 points and nine rebounds. Taelor Ross and Sylvia Shephard both scored 12 points, while Ashley Ward and Wilma Afungo finished with 10 each. Shephard dished out a game-high eight assists, while Ward had six.

Cailin Nix and Tierra Williams finished with 15 points each to lead the Cougars. Layne Murphy added 10 points.

Bakersfield 74, Cal State Northridge 73 (OT)
The Roadrunners defeated Cal State Northridge 74-73 in overtime Thursday at the Matadome. With the win, Bakersfield improves to 6-6 on the season.

The Roadrunners shot 42 percent from the field, 20 percent from three-point range and 58 percent from the free throw line on the game. The Matadors connected on 44 percent from the floor, 37 percent from beyond the arc and 71 percent from the charity stripe. Bakersfield won the rebounding battle, 46-37.

Melissa Sweat led all players with 23 points, while Tyonna Outland added 22 points and a team-high nine boards. Dajy Vines pulled down eight rebounds.
