DENVER – Western Athletic Conference Commissioner Jeff Hurd today announced that University of Texas-Pan American head men’s basketball coach Dan Hipsher has been suspended for the school’s next regular season game.
The suspension is a result of violations of the Conference’s Sportsmanship Policy in UTPA’s game against Utah Valley University on Jan. 30.
“Conference sportsmanship policies are clearly defined,” said Hurd. “The action taken is intended to send a very clear message that there are definite lines that cannot be crossed, and that violations of the policies are not acceptable under any circumstance.”
The suspension is effective for UTPA’s game against Bakersfield on Feb. 1
