Utah Valley 67, Texas-Pan American 53

EDINBURG, Texas –(UVU Media Relations) Utah Valley University moved to 7-0 in the WAC, starting a three-game conference road swing with a 67-53 win at Texas-Pan American on Thursday night at the UTPA Fieldhouse. The win is the eighth straight overall for UVU (13-7, 7-0).

Mitch Bruneel led three Wolverines in double figures with 16 points. Holton Hunsaker added 15 and Keawe Enos scored 14, hitting all four of his 3-point attempts. Shaquille Boga led the Broncs (6-15, 2-5) with 20 points.

New Mexico State 89, Bakersfield 86

LAS CRUCES, N.M. –(NMSU Media Relations) The New Mexico State men’s basketball team escaped an upset bid by last place Bakersfield, 89-86, on Thursday night inside the Pan American Center. The Aggies improve to 16-7 overall and 5-2 in Western Athletic Conference play while the Roadrunners fall to 8-13 overall and 1-6 in the WAC.

NM State narrowly thwarted what would have been a devastating blow to its WAC championships hopes. A loss by the Aggies would have meant that they would be three games behind WAC-leading Utah Valley who remained undefeated in WAC play by easily handling Texas-Pan American on Thursday night.

Grand Canyon 76, Chicago State 75

Chicago-(GCU Media Relations)The Grand Canyon University men's basketball team (10-10, 5-2) staved off a furious second-half rally by the Chicago State Cougars (9-12, 4-3) to hang on for their third straight Western Athletic Conference victory, this time a 76-75 win tonight at Jones Convocation Center in Chicago, Ill. CSU outscored the Antelopes 39-27 in the final 20 minutes, but clutch free throw shooting down the stretch helped cement the win.

Killian Larson led the 'Lopes efforts with 28 points and a career-best 20 rebounds for his 14th double-double of the season. Jerome Garrison added 17 points. GCU shot 45.1 percent from the field (23-for-51) and limited the Cougars to a 36.8 mark (25-for-68) of their own. It was the ninth time this season that the 'Lopes have held their opposition to 40.0 percent or less from the field.
