Kansas City 77, Seattle U 65
All five Kangaroo starters scored in double figures, as Kansas City knocked off preseason WAC favorite Seattle U 77-65 Saturday afternoon at the Swinney Recreation Center. With the win, the 'Roos improve to 5-10 on the season and 1-1 in WAC play. The Redhawks drop to 6-9 overall and 1-1 in the WAC.

Kansas City shot 41 percent from the field, 33 percent from three-point range and 81 percent from the free throw line on the game. Seattle U connected on 39 percent from the floor, nine percent from downtown and 67 percent from the charity stripe. The 'Roos out-rebounded the Redhawks 42-37.

Eilise O’Connor led Kansas City with 23 points and seven rebounds, while Kim Nezianya grabbed a game-high 15 rebounds to go along with 12 points and three steals for her sixth double-double of the season and second in a row. Taylor Leathers, Calli White and Grace Mitchell scored 11 points each.

Seattle U was led by Kacie Sowell with 23 points and eight rebounds. Sylvia Shephard posted a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds.

Bakersfield 61, Utah Valley 59
The Roadrunners mounted a late comeback to defeat Utah Valley 61-59 in both teams WAC opener at the UCCU Center Saturday. With the win, Bakersfield improves to 7-6 on the season and 1-0 in WAC play. The Wolverines fall to 3-11 overall and 0-1 in the WAC.

Bakersfield shot 35 percent from the field, 37 percent from three-point range and just 43 percent from the free throw line on the game. Utah Valley connected on 40 percent from the floor, 40 percent from beyond the arc and 61 percent from the line. The Roadrunners edged the Wolverines on the boards, 44-41.

Tyonna Outland led all players with 25 points, while Brooklynn Hinkens added nine points and Melissa Sweat had eight. Batabe Zempare pulled down a game-high 14 rebounds.

Rhaiah Spooner-Knight paced UVU with 14 points and 11 rebounds for her first career double-double. Tina Doughty added 11 points, while Georgia Agnew dished out eight assists.

Idaho 92, Chicago State 42
The Vandals scored a season-high 92 points en route to a 92-42 win over Chicago State Saturday at the Jones Convocation Center. With the win, Idaho improves to 9-7 overall and 2-0 in WAC play. The Cougars fall to 2-12 on the season and 0-2 in the WAC.

The Vandals shot 51 percent from the field, 30 percent from three-point range and 80 percent from the free throw line on the game. Chicago State connected on 25 percent from the field, 29 percent from beyond the arc and 31 percent from the line. Idaho dominated the boards, 55-36.

Stacey Barr led all scorers with 21 points, 12 rebounds and six assists for her fifth double-double of the season. Alyssa Charlston added 15 points, while Ali Forde matched her season high with 14 points.

Tierra Williams led Chicago State with 14 points and eight rebounds. Layne Murphy added 11 points, while Paris Williams pulled down a team-high nine rebounds.

New Mexico State 66, Grand Canyon 63
The Aggies snapped a seven-game losing skid and opened WAC play with a 66-63 win over Grand Canyon at the Pan American Center Saturday. With the win, New Mexico State improves to 4-10 on the season and 1-0 in the WAC. The Antelopes fall to 11-4 overall and 0-2 in WAC play.

NM State shot 38 percent from the field, 36 percent from three-point range and 71 percent from the free throw line on the game. Grand Canyon connected on 36 percent from the floor, 24 percent from downtown and 68 percent from the charity stripe. The Aggies won the rebounding battle, 45-39, but committed 22 turnovers.

Danesia Williamson led all players with 23 points, while Brianna Freeman posted a double-double of 16 points and 10 boards. Sasha Weber also doubled up with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Tyler Ellis pulled down a team-high 11 boards.

Kaitlyn Petersen led Grand Canyon with 19 points, while Deanna Daniels posted a double-double of 17 points and 15 rebounds. Astrea Reed tallied 10 points in the loss.
