The Roadrunners return two starters from last season in Javonte Maynor and Aly Ahmed. Ahmed was named to the WAC All-Defensive Team and is the top returning rebounder (6.6), while Maynor is the top returning scorer (8.8). Bakersfield has two players who redshirted last season playing for the first time in 2014-15 in freshman guard Brent Wrapp and sophomore guard Jaylin Airington. Senior Tyrell Corbin and redshirt freshman Brent Wrapp are expected to replace Issiah Grayson at point guard this season. Bakersfield will play all home games this season on campus at the 3800-seat Icardo Center after splitting last season’s home contests with downtown Rabobank Arena. CHICAGO STATE COUGARS Head Coach: Tracy Dildy (UIC, '91) Cougar Links 2013-14 Record: 13-19 / 8-8 WAC Complete Schedule Starters Returning/Lost: 1/4 Roster Tracy Dildy Press ConferenceNotes Chicago State returns seven letterwinners, including one starter, from last season’s team that placed fourth in its inaugural season in the WAC. The fourth-place finish in the WAC serves as CSU’s highest conference finish in the program’s NCAA Division I history. The Cougars’ eight WAC wins last season equals the second-most conference wins in its Division I history with the 2005-06 team that posted an 8-8 record in the Mid-Continent Conference (now The Summit League). The Cougars will take on eight teams that competed in national postseason tournaments last season, including Arizona State (NCAA), Creighton (NCAA), New Mexico State (NCAA), Green Bay (NIT), Georgia State (NIT), Utah Valley (NIT), Toledo (NIT) and Grand Canyon (CIT). Senior guard Clarke Rosenberg made a huge splash during his junior campaign in 2014-15 for the Cougars. The Skokie, Ill., native averaged 14.0 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.4 steals per game while shooting 45 percent from the field and 34 percent from three-point range. Graduate student Aaron Williams returns to the Green and White for his final season after redshirting in 2013-14 due to injury. He was featured in NCAA Champion magazine last spring when he earned his bachelor’s degree in May while graduating with his mother, Tonya. GRAND CANYON ANTELOPES Head Coach: Dan Majerle (Central Michigan, '88) Antelope Links 2013-14 Record: 15-15 / 10-6 WAC Complete Schedule Starters Returning/Lost: 2/3 Roster Dan Majerle Press ConferenceNotes Grand Canyon returns two starters from last season in Jerome Garrison, who was name second team All-WAC and to the WAC All-Defensive Team, and Daniel Alexander, a WAC All-Newcomer selection. The Lopes went 15-15 in their first season in Division I, earning a third-place finish in the WAC and a postseason bid to the CollegeInsider.com Tournament. GCU’s roster includes seven international players, three of which hail from Australia. The Lopes’ non-conference schedule includes games at Kentucky and at Indiana and home games against Harvard and New Mexico. Royce Woolridge, a senior transfer from Washington State, will make his return to Phoenix as he played at Sunnyslope High School. GCU ranked second in free throw percentage (74.0) among all WAC schools in 2013-14. MISSOURI-KANSAS CITY KANGAROOS Head Coach: Kareem Richardson (Evansville, '97) Kangaroo Links 2013-14 Record: 10-20 / 7-9 WAC Complete Schedule Starters Returning/Lost: 2/3 Roster Kareem Richardson Press ConferenceNotes Missouri-Kansas City is entering its second season under head coach Kareem Richardson. In his first year with the ‘Roos in 2013-14, Richardson led the team to a fifth-place finish in the WAC, and the fourth seed in the conference tournament, both of which were the highest since 2006 at UMKC. The attendance also increased 36 percent from the previous year. Martez Harrison was named WAC Freshman of the Year last season. The Kansas City, Mo., product averaged 17.2 points per game. The roster currently has eight players from the Kansas City area, the most ever at UMKC (previous record set last season with seven). UMKC will return four redshirts, two of which sat out last season due to Division I transfer rules in Reese Holliday (Toledo) and Shayok Shayok (Bradley). Overall winning percentage in 2013-14 was an improvement from the previous two years. NEW MEXICO STATE AGGIES Head Coach: Marvin Menzies (UCLA, '87) Aggie Links 2013-14 Record: 26-10 / 12-4 WAC Complete Schedule Starters Returning/Lost: 3/2 Roster Marvin Menzies Press ConferenceNotes NM State looks to complete the rare four-peat in 2014-15, as the Aggies have won the WAC Tournament title and participated in the NCAA Tournament three years in a row. NM State returns WAC Player of the Year Daniel Mullings. Last year, the 6-2 senior guard averaged a team-high 16.8 points per game and led the Aggies with 65 steals, which ranked second in the conference. The Aggies also welcome back a pair of experienced seniors in Tshilidzi Nephawe and DK Eldridge. Last season, Nephawe averaged 11.1 points per contest and tied for a team-high 7.8 rebounds a game. Eldridge averaged 11.2 points per game to go along with 4.5 assists per contest. The Aggies open the 2014-15 season at Wichita State, a team that finished 35-1 and earned a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament last year. The Shockers dropped a 78-76 decision to eventual national runner-up Kentucky. New Mexico State will take on Saint Mary’s Nov. 19 as part of “ESPN’s 24-Hour College Hoops Tip-Off Marathon.” Tip is set for 1 a.m. MST. The Aggies lost 7-5 Sim Bhullar to the NBA, but welcome Sim’s younger brother, 7-3 redshirt freshman Tanveer Bhullar into the fold. SEATTLE U REDHAWKS Head Coach: Cameron Dollar (UCLA, '97) Redhawk Links 2013-14 Record: 13-17 / 5-11 WAC Complete Schedule Starters Returning/Lost: 4/1 Roster Cameron Dollar Press ConferenceNotes Seattle University looks to improve upon its 2013-14 season, when it tied for seventh place in the regular-season standings and was eliminated in the quarterfinals of the WAC Tournament. Eight players who saw action during the 2013-14 campaign return to Seattle U this season, including second team All-WAC honoree Isiah Umipig. The top three scorers and three of the top four rebounders from last season return. Two key players returning from injury are senior wing player Emerson Murray, who battled foot issues all year long, and junior forward Deshaun Sunderhaus, recovering from a left knee injury after averaging 15.8 points and 10.3 rebounds per game in the four previous contests before getting hurt at Grand Canyon Jan. 25. Also coming back to the Redhawks are Theo Turner, a 6-11 center from England who redshirted last season, and Manroop Clair, a 6-2 guard from Canada who sat out last season after transferring from the University of Hawai‘i. Cameron Dollar enters his sixth season as head coach of the Seattle University basketball team. Assistant coach Darren Talley and director of operations Mike Jones remain on his staff, but Dollar welcomes two new assistant coaches in Lance LaVetter and Mike Nowell. Seattle U’s 2014-15 schedule features two games against 2014 NCAA Tournament participant New Mexico State, a game at 2014 NIT champion Minnesota, two games against 2014 NIT participant Utah Valley, two games against 2014 CIT participant Grand Canyon, and an early-season battle against another 2014 CIT team, Omaha. TEXAS-PAN AMERICAN BRONCS Head Coach: Dan Hipsher (Bowling Green, '77) Bronc Links 2013-14 Record: 9-23 / 5-11 WAC Complete Schedule Starters Returning/Lost: 2/3 Roster Dan Hipsher Press ConferenceNotes The Broncs won five road games last season, their highest total since 2007-08. Last season, Texas-Pan American swept Chicago State and Missouri-Kansas City, the No. 3 and 4 seeds, respectively, in the 2014 WAC Tournament. The Broncs ranked 40th nationally in turnover margin (+40), 75th in steals per game (7.0), 81st in three-point field goal percentage defense (32.6) and 93rd in total steals (224). Shaq Boga ranked 30th in the nation in steals per game (2.10) and 40th in total steals (65) last season. After playing 12 games against teams that participated in postseason play last season, the Broncs have 13 games on the slate against 2014 postseason teams this year. Shaun Noriega, a transfer from South Florida, returns for a sixth season after missing the last two seasons due to injury. Noriega ranked ninth in the Big East in three-point shooting in 2010-11. UTAH VALLEY WOLVERINES Head Coach: Dick Hunsaker (Weber State, '77) Wolverine Links 2013-14 Record: 20-12 / 13-3 WAC Complete Schedule Starters Returning/Lost: 2/3 Roster Dick Hunsaker Press ConferenceNotes Utah Valley won the 2013-14 WAC regular-season title in its first-ever year in the league. The Wolverines finished the season with a 20-12 overall record and a 13-3 WAC mark. The Wolverines made their first-ever trip to the NIT after receiving an automatic bid for winning the WAC regular-season title. The team dropped a 77-64 decision to Cal in the first round of the tournament. In its first-ever WAC Tournament, Utah Valley set a new tournament record by shooting 70.5 percent from the field in an 83-63 win over Texas-Pan American in the tournament quarterfinals. Utah Valley returns two of its starters from last year’s championship team. Mitch Bruneel, a WAC All-Defensive Team honoree from last season returns for his senior campaign. Zach Nelson, a WAC All-Newcomer Team honoree in 2014, returns for his sophomore season. The Wolverines also return letterwinners Hayes Garrity, Brenden Evans, Chad Ross and Eli Robison from last season. UVU welcomes seven new players to the roster this season.
