LAS VEGAS - The Western Athletic Conference men's basketball media have selected New Mexico State as the preseason favorite to win the conference crown during the 2014-15 season and Aggie senior guard Daniel Mullings as the WAC Preseason Player of the Year.
The Aggies received 17 first-place votes, earning 143 points. Grand Canyon was picked to finish second with 110 points, while Seattle U was third with 100 points and one first-place vote. Utah Valley was picked to finish fourth with 91 points, followed by Missouri-Kansas City in fifth with 91 points. Bakersfield was picked to finish in sixth place with 60 points, followed by Texas-Pan American in seventh with 41 points and Grand Canyon in eighth with 34 points.
Reigning WAC Player of the Year Mullings was voted Preseason Player of the Year and is the on the Preseason All-WAC first team. Joining him on the first team are teammate Tshilidzi Nephawe, Jerome Garrison of Grand Canyon, Martez Harrison of UMKC and Isiah Umipig of Seattle U.
The Preseason All-WAC second team is comprised of Bakersfield's Aly Ahmed, Daniel Alexander of Grand Canyon, DK Eldridge of New Mexico State, UTPA's Shaquille Hines and Zach Nelson of Utah Valley.
