BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – (NMSU Media Relations) The New Mexico State volleyball team pulled off a four-set WAC win over Bakersfield, 25-21, 25-19, 18-25, 28-26, on Thursday night. With the win, the Aggies improce to 12-8 overall and 6-2 in conference play. The Roadrunners fall to 9-12 overall and 5-3 in the WAC.
NM State, the conference leader in opponent’s hitting percentage, held Bakersfield to an overall hitting percentage of .198, including a .051 percentage in the first set and a .000 percentage in set number two. The Aggies also had a season-high 15 team blocks, led by middle blocker Sasha-Lee Thomas. who finished with eight total blocks.
Bradley Nash picked up her fourth double-double of the season after posting a team-high 10 kills to go along with 11 digs. Thomas added nine kills, Nathalie Castellanos had eight and junior Gwen Murphy finished with seven kills and a match-high .583 hitting percentage, the highest hitting percentage this season for NM State.
Sydney Haynes led all players with 14 kills, while Danika Youngblood tallied her 10th double-double of the year with 13 kills and 10 digs. Luiza Martins registered her seventh double-double of the year as she had 42 assists and 15 digs.

PHOENIX – Grand Canyon surpassed its win total from its initial Division I season in 2013 by grabbing its 13th win Thursday in a 3-1 (15-25, 25-12, 25-13, 25-1) WAC victory over Texas-Pan American at Antelope Gymnasium.
The Antelopes (13-9, 3-6), who finished 12-19 last season, had a season-high 12 service aces, including a career-best five from Hannah Hankins to come back from a rough first set. The Lopes had only two service errors. The 12 aces were the most since the team tallied 13 against Hawai'i Pacific on Oct. 21, 2008. Hankins' five were the most since Megan Toth had six in a victory over Dominican on Oct. 1, 2010.
Shannon Dugan had a GCU season-best 23.5 points with 21 kills, three block assists and a service ace. It was her fourth 20-plus kill match, but her first one where she hit over .300 (21-7-46, .304). She also had 12 digs, recording her team-best 11th double-double of the year.
Anjané Janda led the Broncs (5-17, 2-6 WAC) with 14 kills, while Mary Kate Clark dished out 34 assists. Krysta Freitas recorded 16 digs and Haley Durham posted five blocks.
