DENVER — Missouri-Kansas City’s Wes White and San Jose State’s Felix Petermann have been named the Western Athletic Conference Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week for October 20-26.

White, a freshman forward from Oak Grove, Mo. (William Chrisman HS), scored a goal and had two game-winning assists in helping the ‘Roos to a 2-0 mark over the weekend. On Friday, with UMKC trailing Seattle U 2-0, White scored on a header in the 76th minute and then assisted on the game-winner in the 86th minute to give the ‘Roos a 3-2 victory. On Sunday afternoon, he then assisted on the only goal in the 88th minute of a 1-0 win over Utah Valley. For the week, he scored four points, made three shots (two on goal) and played 145 minutes.

Petermann, a junior goalkeeper from Berlin, Germany (Towson University), made four saves in recording his second shutout of the season during a 2-0 victory against Bakersfield on Sunday afternoon. The win moved the Spartans into a tie for third place in the WAC standings with two weekends to go before the WAC Tournament.

Other offensive nominees included: junior forward Alberto Sanchez Garcia, Grand Canyon; senior forward Patrick Toh, Houston Baptist; senior midfielder Alex de la Garza, Incarnate Word; senior forward Salvador Bernal, UNLV; freshman forward Greg Harte, San Jose State; junior forward Hamza Haddadi, Seattle U; and freshman forward Karson Payton, Utah Valley.

Defensive nominees included: junior goalkeeper Luca Licciardi, Grand Canyon; senior goalkeeper Kevin Suarez, Houston Baptist; freshman defender William Redmann, Incarnate Word; junior defender Guerrero Pino, Missouri-Kansas City; junior goalkeeper Shane Haworth, Seattle U; and sophomore midfielder Skyler Milne, Utah Valley.
