DENVER — Grand Canyon’s Iegor Lytvenok and North Dakota's Clayton Metcalf have been named the Western Athletic Conference Men’s Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively, for October 20-27.

Lytvenok, a junior from Kryviy Rig, Ukraine (MP Dragomanov National Pedagogic University), won four individual events and was on the winning 400-yard medley relay in Grand Canyon’s 133-71 win over Seattle U last weekend.  Lytvenok won the 100 backstroke (50.20), the 200 backstroke (1:48.69), the 400 IM (3:55.06) and the 200 IM (1:49.15), the latter by more than eight seconds.  He then led off the 400 medley relay that set a Seattle U pool record with a time of 3:21.80.  Each of his times in the 400 IM, 200 IM and 200 back are the best in the WAC this season as well as pool records.  His 100 back time ranks second in the WAC this season.

Metcalf, a junior from Monticello, Minn. (Monticello HS), had pair of strong finishes in both diving events, leading UND at the University of Minnesota Friday.  He scored 270.08 from the short board which ranks him fourth in the 1-meter in the WAC this season.  From the 3-meter board Metcalf scored 286.80 which is now third in the WAC this season.

Other swimmers nominated: Noah Lucas, North Dakota; Mihael Vukic, Bakersfield; Tanner Schelling, Seattle U; Ryan Dunne, Air Force and Ryan Ball, Wyoming.

Other divers nominated: Brayden Greenwald, Bakersfield.
