KANSAS CITY – (UMKC Media Relations) The Missouri-Kansas City volleyball team (21-3, 9-0) picked up its school record 21st win of the season and extended its school record win streak to 17 matches on Thursday night at the Swinney Recreation Center after beating Bakersfield (10-13, 6-4) 3-1 behind 35 digs from Taryn Miller that put her in the top spot on the UMKC career digs list.

On her career, the Blue Springs, Mo., native now has 1,630 digs, after recording the second-most digs of her career and the second-most in the WAC this season, passing former ‘Roo Nicole Kerkman’s previous mark of 1,611. The 21 wins, meanwhile, surpass the 20 wins achieved by the 1999 squad.

Sydney Crimmins notched her ninth double-double of the season with 10 kills, a season-high-tying 17 digs and five blocks. Nicole Wemhoff tallied her sixth double-double of the season with 20 assists and 12 digs, while Jessica Hendin registered a season-high 21 kills, nine digs and three blocks, narrowly missing her ninth double-double this season.

As a team, the Kangaroos notched 16.5 blocks, finishing just a half block shy of their season-high and the WAC season-high, with middle hitters Emma Hagedorn and Melissa Hartsel each recording eight blocks.

Molly O'Hagan led Bakersfield with 17 kills, while Danika Youngblood posted a double-double of 15 kills and 19 digs. Luiza Martins also doubled up with 46 assists and 20 digs, while Mariah Alvidrez led the team with 31 digs.

New Mexico State 3, Seattle U 1 (25-16, 19-25, 25-19, 25-20)

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – (NMSU Media Relations) The New Mexico State volleyball team made up for an earlier loss this season to Seattle U by defeating the Redhawks on Thursday night in four sets, 25-16, 19-25, 25-19, 25-20, inside the Pan American Center.

The Aggies (13-9) now find themselves alone in second place in the WAC with a 7-3 record after Bakersfield lost to conference-leading Missouri-Kansas City on Thursday.  Seattle (9-13), which entered only a half a match behind NM State in the WAC standings, falls to 5-4 in conference play.

In a matchup of the top-two blocking teams in the WAC, the Aggies out-blocked the top blocking team in the conference 9-8, led by redshirt freshman middle blocker Sasha-Lee Thomas, who finished with seven total blocks.

NM State also outhit the Redhawks .256 to .124 and had 57 kills to Seattle’s 40.

Freshman Jordan Abalos led the Aggies with a career-high 14 kills while juniors Bradley Nash and Nathalie Castellanos were right behind with 12 and 10 kills, respectively.  Castellanos also added a team-high .381 hitting percentage.

Matea Mamic led the Redhawks with 13 kills, while Martina Samadan finished with nine kills and four total blocks. Kerry Lane dished out 34 assists and Mary Orbeta led the team in the back with 11 digs.

Utah Valley 3, Texas-Pan American 1 (25-12, 23-25, 25-21, 25-18)

EDINBURG, Texas – (UVU Media Relations) The Utah Valley University volleyball team snapped its three-match losing skid with a four-set victory over Texas-Pan American at the UTPA Fieldhouse in Edinburg, Texas, Thursday evening (25-12, 23-25, 25-21, 25-18).
 
The Wolverines improve to 10-15 on the season and 5-4 in WAC play with the win, while UTPA drops to 5-19 overall and 2-8 in conference play with the loss.
 
Macky Treanor led the way for UVU with a season-high 19 kills. Treanor also added six digs, two service aces, two blocks and a solid .368 attack percentage in the contest. Lauren Bakker was next for the Wolverines with 12 kills and six blocks, while Kalani Norris chipped in nine kills, 10 digs and three aces and McKenna Tait put up a match-high 24 digs.  

Alisha Watson led the Broncs with 12 kills and six digs. Diara Reynolds recorded 11 kills on .346 hitting, while Haley Durham posted 10 kills. Mary Kate Clark had a match-high 31 assists and a career-high-tying four blocks.
