UTAH VALLEY’S TREANOR EARNS WAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONORS
Utah Valley sophomore outside hitter Macky Treanor has been named Western Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week for the week of Nov. 3-9. This is her first WAC Player of the Week honor of the season and second of her career.
The Salem, Utah, native averaged WAC-bests of 5.43 points and 1.00 service aces to go along with 4.14 kills on .434 hitting, 2.00 digs and 0.57 blocks per set as the Wolverines picked up a pair of WAC victories, including a four-set win over WAC leader Missouri-Kansas City, to move into a tie for third place in the WAC standings. Treanor opened the week with match highs of 11 kills and four service aces in a sweep of Chicago State. She did not commit an attack error in the match as she recorded a career-high .647 hitting percentage in the victory. In the upset over UMKC, Treanor put up her third double-double of the season with 18 kills and 10 digs to go along with three service aces and three blocks. She entered the week averaging 3.14 points, 2.80 kills, 1.30 digs, 0.36 blocks and 0.15 service aces per set.
Other nominees included: Bakersfield’s Molly O’Hagan finished with a career-high-tying 21 kills, five blocks, four digs and two assists in a five-set loss to Grand Canyon ... Natalie Tardy of Grand Canyon averaged 4.25 points, 3.80 kills and 2.30 digs per set as the Lopes went 2-0 on the week ... Missouri-Kansas City’s Emma Hagedorn averaged 2.88 kills on .500 hitting and 1.25 blocks per set as the Kangaroos went 1-1 on the week ... Andrea Tauai of New Mexico State split time between libero and outside hitter in the Aggies’ only match last week and finished with a career-high 29 digs to go along with seven kills and two service aces ... Seattle U’s Stephanie Stoll averaged a WAC-best 1.86 blocks and 1.57 kills as the Redhawks went 1-1 last week ... Alisha Watson of Texas-Pan American averaged 3.12 kills and 1.88 blocks per set as the Broncs went 1-1 on the week.
UTAH VALLEY PICKS UP 100TH DIVISION I WIN AT PE BUILDING
With its four-set win over league-leader Missouri-Kansas City on Nov. 8, Utah Valley picked up its 100th victory as a Division I program in the PE Building. The Wolverines boast a 100-42 (.704) record at home in the Division I era.
SEATTLE U’S SAMADAN, STOLL CLIMBING SINGLE-SEASON RECORD
Seattle U’s Martina Samadan and Stephanie Stoll, who currently rank first and second, respectively, in the WAC in blocks per set, have become the third and fourth players in program history to record at least 100 total blocks in a single season. Samadan has 106 on the year, while Stoll has 105.
UVU’S BAKKER SETS TWO PROGRAM BLOCKS RECORDS
Utah Valley junior middle blocker Lauren Bakker broke two school career blocking records last week. She became the program’s all-time leader in career solo blocks (47) during the Nov. 6 victory over Chicago State and followed it up by breaking the school’s all-time mark for total blocks (428) in the Nov. 8 match vs. UMKC. Bakker needs just two block assists to become the program’s all-time record holder in that category, as well.
MISSOURI-KANSAS CITY’S MILLER NAMED ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT
Missouri-Kansas City’s Taryn Miller was named to the CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-District VI first team and advances to the national ballot for Academic All-America® consideration. The junior libero has helped the ‘Roos to school records of 22 wins and 17 consecutive wins, two preseason tournament titles and a current first-place spot in the WAC standings. Individually, she was named WAC player of the Week on Sept. 15 after garnering MVP honors at the CEFCU Classic. Academically, Miller holds a 4.0 grade-point average as a business administration major. A two-time Academic All-Conference selection, she serves as the squad’s representative to SAAC.
UMKC’S MILLER BECOMES PROGRAM’S ALL-TIME LEADER IN DIGS
On Oct. 30, Missouri-Kansas City junior libero Taryn Miller broke the UMKC school record for career digs, passing Nicole Kerkman’s mark of 1,611. Miller now has 1,691 digs in her three-year career. Additionally, her 614 digs this season rank second on the UMKC single season list, 30 shy of the school record. Miller has recorded 30 or more digs in a match six times this season.
BAKERSFIELD’S SAWYER, O’HAGAN BOTH SURPASS 1,000 CAREER POINTS
Bakersfield junior outside hitter Kelsee Sawyer surpassed 1,000 career points on Oct. 18 at Utah Valley. Her teammate senior middle blocker Molly O’Hagan reached the 1,000-point plateau against Chicago State on Oct. 2. O’Hagan now has 1,138 career points, while Sawyer has 1,035.
MISSOURI-KANSAS CITY SETS SCHOOL RECORD FOR WINS
When it defeated Bakersfield on Oct. 30, Missouri-Kansas City notched its 21st win of the season, breaking the previous record of 20 held by the 1999 team. UMKC currently sits atop the WAC standings with a 22-5 overall record and a 10-2 WAC mark. On Oct. 13, the Kangaroos defeated Missouri for just the fourth time in school history and the first time since 1994.
KLIEFOTH, DURHAM AMONG UTPA’S ALL-TIME BEST BLOCKERS
Texas-Pan American senior Maria Kliefoth and junior Haley Durham are among the best blockers in program history. Kliefoth ranks sixth in both block assists (218) and total blocks (255), and ninth in blocks per set (0.66). Durham is first in blocks per set (0.82), and seventh in both block assists (199) and total blocks (247).
UVU’S ATOA PICKS UP 200TH DIVISION I VICTORY
Utah Valley head coach Sam Atoa recorded his 200th Division I victory on Oct. 4 in a win over Texas-Pan American. Atoa is now 205-144 (.587) in 12 seasons at the Division I level and 343-175 (.662) overall in his career in 16 years at Utah Valley.
SAMADAN POSTS SEATTLE U’S FIFTH-BEST HITTING PERCENTAGE
In a five-set win over Montana on Sept. 18, junior middle blocker Martina Samadan hit .645 in the match. It was the fifth-highest individual single-match hitting percentage in program history.
CHICAGO STATE SNAPS 64-MATCH HOME LOSING SKID
When it defeated IU Northwest on Sept. 12, Chicago State snapped a 64-match home losing skid that dated back to Oct. 13, 2007, when it defeated Air Force in five sets. The Cougars have already tripled their win total from the 2013 season.

Grand Canyon’s Natalie Tardy is tops in points (4.13), while Missouri-Kansas City’s Taryn Miller leads the WAC in digs (5.63).
In WAC matches only, Bakersfield leads the WAC in assists (12.61) and kills (13.30), while Utah Valley is tops in hitting percentage (.258). New Mexico State leads the WAC in opponent hitting percentage (.145), while Seattle U is tops in blocks (2.91). Tickets for the 2014 WAC Volleyball Tournament, which will be held Nov. 20-22 at the Icardo Center in Bakersfield, Calif., are on sale now. All-session tickets, which are general admission seating and include admission to all five matches, are $25. Tickets can be purchased through both the Bakersfield website (gorunners.com) and the Vallitix website (vallitix.com).
Single-session tickets, which allow access to one day’s worth of matches, will be available for purchase on Monday, Nov. 17.
