Seattle U to Face Washington State in NCAA Tournament

Complete Bracket

SEATTLE –
(SU Media Relations) The NCAA Division I Women’s Soccer Committee has announced the field of 64 teams competing for the 33rd NCAA Division I Women’s Soccer Championship and Seattle University women’s soccer will face Washington State in Pullman at 5 p.m. PT on Friday, Nov. 14 at 5 p.m.

After winning the WAC Tournament for the second straight season, Seattle U (14-4-2) earned the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. En route to the league title, the Redhawks outscored their opponents 12-0, defeating New Mexico State, 7-0, on Nov. 7 and Kansas City, 5-0, on Nov. 9. Riding a four game shutout streak, they’ve outscored their opponents, 25-0, since Oct. 26.

The winner of the first round match will face the winner of South Carolina and Clemson in the second round. North Carolina is the No. 2 seed and South Carolina is the No. 3 seed in Seattle U’s portion of the bracket so the team with the higher seed of the two that advances is likely to host the second and third rounds.

Washington State (10-4-2) received an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament, marking its fourth straight postseason appearance, a first for the program, and its sixth appearance in the last seven years. This is the Cougars’ second straight year at home after hosting Illinois in 2013, a match they lost in penalty kicks, 3-1, after the game ended in a scoreless draw following two overtimes. WSU and SU have faced 10 times overall, as this is their first in the national tournament.
