DENVER — UNLV’s Balint Batka and Grand Canyon’s Michael Bidak have been named the Western Athletic Conference Men’s Swimmer and Diver of the Week for November 3-10.
Batka, a senior from Budapest, Hungary (Kolcsey Ierevc), was victorious in five first place swims over the weekend in meets against No. 24 Denver and Brigham Young. Against the Pioneers, Batka won the 200 butterfly while helping the 400 medley and the 400 freestyle relays to victories over Denver. With a time of 1:47.91, Batka now leads the conference in the 200 butterfly. In the meet against BYU, Balint won the 200 free (1:40.81) and the 100 fly. He ranks second in the 100 fly in the WAC with a time of 46.59.
Bidak, a junior from Scottsdale, Ariz. (Horizon HS) led Grand Canyon against Air Force this weekend with a second and third place finish on the boards. Bidak took second place overall on the 1-meter board with a score of 269.45 and a third place finish overall on the 3-meter with 256.30 points.
