Missouri-Kansas City 3, Texas-Pan American 0 (25-14, 25-17, 25-16)

KANSAS CITY – (UMKC Media Relations) The Missouri-Kansas City volleyball team clinched a share of its first-ever conference title after knocking off Texas-Pan American 3-0 (25-14, 25-17, 25-16) Thursday evening at the Swinney Recreation Center, claiming a stake to the WAC regular-season crown.

In the victory, the ‘Roos hit .238 as a team with 10 blocks and limited the Broncs to just a .054 clip and one block, while setting the school record for conference wins and extending their school record for overall wins.

Setters Kaylyn Brandt and Nicole Wemhoff led the UMKC (23-5, 11-2) offense with 14 assists apiece, while Wemhoff added 15 digs for her sixth double-double of the season. Taryn Miller led the team with 11 digs, while Emma Hagedorn led the ‘Roos with seven kills and a .583 hitting percentage.

Haley Durham led the Broncs (6-22, 2-11) with nine kills. Mary Kate Clark dished out 20 assists and Nausheen Merchant recorded 14 digs.

New Mexico State 3, Chicago State 0 (25-11, 25-16, 25-11)

CHICAGO – (NMSU Media Relations) The New Mexico State volleyball team set up a showdown for a share of the WAC regular-season crown by easily handling Chicago State on Thursday in straight sets, 25-11, 25-16, 25-11, for its fourth-straight win.

The Aggies (16-9) hit at a season-high .420 hitting percentage while holding the Cougars to a -.033 percentage, the third time this season the conference leaders in opponent hitting percentage have held an opponent to a negative percentage for a match.

Shelbi Goode hit at a career-high .583 percentage and had seven kills. Jordan Abalos also had a career-high hitting percentage, .538, while also notching a team-high eight kills. Taylor Livoti finished with a match-high 18 assists while Ashlyn Brown added 13 assists. Ariadnne Sierra, who started at the libero position for injured starter Hannah Walker, had a match-high 10 digs.

Elli Woinowsky had five kills to lead Chicago State. Sarah Metcalfe had 15 assists, while Julia Menhart had a team-high eight digs.

Seattle U 3, Grand Canyon 2 (22-25, 25-22, 18-25, 25-20, 15-11)

PHOENIX – (SU Media Relations) Seattle University pulled away late in the deciding set to defeat Grand Canyon 3-2 (22-25, 25-22, 18-25, 25-20, 15-11) Thursday evening at the Antelope Gymnasium.

Matea Mamic led Seattle U (12-14, 8-5 WAC) with a career-high 18 kills to go along with eight digs, while Martina Samadan finished with 15 kills on .393 hitting. Jelena Vujcin contributed 11 kills, while Kerry Lane notched her fourth double-double of the season with a season-high 57 assists to go along with 12 digs. Mary Orbeta had a career-high 21 digs, the most by any Redhawk in a match this season, while Iris Ivanis also posted a career-high 15 digs.

Grand Canyon (17-10, 6-7 WAC) was led by Natalie
Tardy with 17 kills, followed by Shannon Dugan with 16 kills, 11 digs and four total blocks. Michelle Steagall finished with 38 assists and nine digs, while Mackenzie Phelps led her team with 14 digs to go along with five assists and two service aces.

Bakersfield 3, Utah Valley 1 (30-32, 25-18, 25-14, 25-20)

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – (CSUB Media Relations) Behind Molly O'Hagan’s 19 kills, Bakersfield defeated Utah Valley 3-1 (30-32, 25-18, 25-14, 25-20) in WAC volleyball action Thursday night

O’Hagan added four aces and four blocks for Bakersfield (12-14, 8-5), while Kelsee Sawyer posted 17 kills and Danika Youngblood had 14 kills and six digs. Luiza Martins earned her fourth straight double-double with 52 assists and 10 digs.

Utah Valley (13-17, 7-6 WAC) was led by Lauren Bakker, who had 14 kills and four blocks. Macky Treanor had 13 kills while Kalani Norris posted 11 kills and seven digs.
