Martez Harrison scored 26 points, including a career-high 15 made free throws, the most in a game for a UMKC player since 1994.

EDINBURG, Texas – (UTPA Media Relations) Five Broncs reached double-figure scoring as the University of Texas-Pan American men's basketball team opened the regular season with an 88-80 victory over the Wayland Baptist University Pioneers, the No. 21 team in the NAIA, on Friday at the UTPA Fieldhouse.
Janari Joesaar led the Broncs (1-0) with a career-high 20 points on 7-of-12 shooting to go with a career-high 13 rebounds for his first double-double. Shaquille Hines scored 15 points with four assists. Moe McDonald scored 14 points on 5-of-5 shooting, while Shaun Noriega dropped 13 points and Andreas Bigum scored 11 points.
As a team, the Broncs shot .508 (33-65), including .500 (7-14) from behind the arc.

OREM, Utah – Marcel Davis and Donte Williams each scored a game-high 16 points to lead the Utah Valley University men's basketball team to a season-opening 60-52 win over South Dakota Friday night at the UCCU Center.

HONOLULU – (CSUB Media Relations) After four overtimes, a late turnover with nine seconds remaining proved to be the back-breaker for the Bakersfield Roadrunners in a 100-99 loss to High Point in the opening round of the Rainbow Classic.
Friday’s season opener marked the first time the ‘Runners played a quadruple overtime game, making it their longest contest since Feb. 11, 1989 at Cal State LA.
Bakersfield was led by Aly Ahmed’s career-high 26 points and 10 rebounds, while Kevin Mays added 13 points and 17 rebounds. Tyrell Corbin scored a career-high 20 for the ‘Runners. Bakersfield shot 64 percent in the second half and was 35-of-75 in the game from the field.

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Grand Canyon University basketball team fell in its regular season opener this evening, 85-45, to top-ranked Kentucky at Rupp Arena in Lexington, Ky.
The Antelopes shot just 31.3 percent (15-for-48) from the floor, compared to 48.6 percent (34-for-70) for the Wildcats. The Antelopes were 7-15 from behind the arc.
Royce Woolridge, in his first game with GCU after transferring from Washington State, led the Lopes with 15 points on 5-for-11 shooting. He made all four of his attempts from three-point range. Daniel Alexander scored all 10 of his points in the second half and added four rebounds.

WICHITA, Kan. – (NM State Media Relations) The New Mexico State Aggies battled No. 11 Wichita State early but a 14-5 run midway through the first half gave the Shockers a lead they’d never relinquish as Wichita State took a 71-54 win in the season opener for both teams.
NM State (0-1) never held the lead as the Shockers (1-0) collected their 32nd straight regular season win and 26th straight home win.
The Aggies collected 14 points and six rebounds from Daniel Mullings, while Remi Barry tallied nine points.
Texas State 62, Seattle U 53Recap | Stats
SEATTLE – (SU Media Relations) The Seattle University men’s basketball team enjoyed a solid first half, but Texas State was able to take advantage of Redhawk turnovers early in the second half to come from behind for a 62-53 victory over Seattle U Friday night in the season opener at KeyArena at Seattle Center.
Isiah Umipig hit seven three-pointers as he led the Redhawks with 23 points, while Deshaun Sunderhaus contributed 10 points off the bench and Jarell Flora had nine points and six rebounds.
After shooting 50 percent from the field in the first half (12-of-24), the Redhawks were held to 35.3 percent field goal shooting after halftime (6-of-17) and committed 12 turnovers in the second half that led to 16 Bobcat points.
Arizona State 86, Chicago State 50Stats
TEMPE, Ariz. – The Cougars opened the season with an 86-50 loss to Arizona State in the CBE Hall of Fame Classic.
Chicago State shot 32 percent from the field, 15 percent from three-point range and 57 percent from the free throw line, compared to the 61 percent from the floor, 44 percent from downtown and 56 percent from the charity stripe of the Sun Devils. Arizona State also out-rebounded the Cougars, 34-31.
Clarke Rosenberg led Chicago State with 20 points, including three three-pointers.
