CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. - (GCU Media Relations) Grand Canyon knocked a 15-point second-half deficit down to four, but were unable complete its comeback in an 84-77 loss to Austin Peay at Dunn Center in Clarksville, Tenn., Saturday.
GCU led in the first half, thanks to 53.3 percent shooting from the field, but the Governors were nearly as accurate, hitting 51.5 percent of their shots in the first 20 minutes. Austin Peay finished the game 9-of- 16 from 3-point range. Unfortunately for the Lopes, they shot only 33.3 percent (12-of-36) in the second and hit just 11-of-18 free throws.

Texas-Pan American 82, Eastern Michigan 75

EDINBURG, Texas - (UPTA Media Relations) The University of Texas-Pan American Broncs women’s basketball team beat the Eastern Michigan University Eagles 81-75 to complete a 3-0 home stand on Saturday at the UTPA Fieldhouse.
Sophomore Shawnte’ Goff led the Broncs (4-2) with a career-high 26 points as well as a season-high eight rebounds, a season-high five assists, one block and two steals. Freshman Hildur Björg Kjartansdóttir scored a career-high 16 points on 6-of-11 shooting, including 3-of-4 from behind the arc. Senior Tonisha Walker scored 13 points while hitting her first four shots from behind the arc. Senior T’Ondria Nolen scored 10 points with a career-high nine rebounds and five assists. Senior Brittany Bush grabbed a season-high 13 rebounds (seven offensive) while scoring six points.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - (UMKC Media Relations) The Missouri-Kansas City women’s basketball team (1-2) fell in its home opener, 65-60 to Rockhurst (1-1) on Saturday afternoon at the Swinney Recreation Center.
Freshman Kiana Law led the ‘Roos in the contest, notching career-high’s of 15 points on 7-of-11 shooting and 10 rebounds for her first career double-double, while Calli White shot 7-of-13 from the field, including 4-of-9 from three-point range for 19 points, to go along with five assists and three rebounds.

Utah Valley 61, Weber State 40

OREM, Utah - Patrice Toston scored a game-high 19 points as the Utah Valley Wolverines picked up a win over in-state rival Weber State, 61-40, on Saturday night in Orem.
Four Wolverines finished in double-digit scoring, led by Toston. As a team, UVU shot .479 on the night, making 23 of 48 attempts.
