Texas-Pan American 78, North Dakota 60

SALT LAKE CITY – (UTPA Media Relations) Shaquille Hines scored a season-high 24 points to lead the University of Texas-Pan American Broncs men's basketball team past the University of North Dakota (UND) 78-60 on Saturday at the Jon M. Huntsman Center on the campus of the University of Utah.
 
Hines led the Broncs (4-2) by going a career-best 12-for-13 from the field with a season-high eight rebounds, a season-high tying four assists and one block. Sophomore Janari Joesaar scored 20 points with six rebounds, two assists and one steal. Senior Shaquille Boga scored 15 points with four rebounds, four assists and two steals.

Seattle U 70, Cal State Northridge 58

SEATTLE – The scoring of the Seattle University backcourt, combined with tough defense and rebounding, gave the Redhawks a 70-58 victory over the CSUN Matadors Saturday night in a non-conference men’s collegiate basketball game at KeyArena.

Isiah Umipig hit seven three-pointers as he scored 24 points, with Jarell Flora contributing five three-pointers on his way to a 23-point, nine-rebound effort. Jack Crook pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds to go along with six points and four assists, and William Powell also scored six points, plus he grabbed eight rebounds.

As a team, Seattle U shot 40.7 percent (22-of-54) from the field, including 13-of-27 from behind the three-point line, and 86.7 percent (13-of-15) from the free throw line. The Redhawks committed 11 turnovers, but CSUN was able to score only seven points off those mistakes, while Seattle U scored eight points off six Matador turnovers.

Missouri-Kansas City 84, William Jewell 44

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – (UMKC Media Relations) The 'Roos jumped out early and never looked back on Saturday night at Municipal Auditorium, nabbing a school record 22 steals on the way to an 84-44 victory over William Jewell in men's basketball action.

The ‘Roos forced 33 turnovers from the guests, matching a school record set in 2003 against Norfolk State.

UMKC finished shooting 49.2 percent, while holding the Cardinals to 34.7 percent in the game. The ‘Roos also took a 38-31 rebound advantage, and outscored the guests 44-6 in points off turnovers and 18-0 in fast-break points.

Martez Harrison finished with 16 points to lead the way, while also adding five assists and a career-best five steals. Broderick Newbill tallied 13 points as well (11 in second half), while Frank Williams finished with 10.

Central Michigan 79, Grand Canyon 77

MT PLEASANT, Mich. – (GCU Media Relations) The Grand Canyon men's basketball team dropped a hard-fought 79-77 contest to Central Michigan tonight at McGuirk Arena. The loss drops the Antelopes to 2-4 overall. The Chippewas improved to 5-0.

Grand Canyon was red-hot throughout the game, shooting a season-best 57.4 percent (27-for47) from the floor and 40.9 percent (9-for-22) from three-point range. For the third-straight game, GCU outrebounded its opponent, doing so 31-27 tonight.

The Antelopes were led by Joshua Braun who finished with 21 points and seven rebounds. Braun was 7-for-10 from the floor, including 4-for-6 from the line.

Wyoming 78, New Mexico State 75

LARAMIE, Wyo. – (NMSU Media Relations) The New Mexico State Aggies needed one more break coming down the stretch on the road at unbeaten Wyoming, but it never came as the Cowboys claimed the home win 78-75 at Arena-Auditorium. The Aggies (3-4) battled back from a double-digit first half deficit before sending the game into a back-and-forth contest with the Cowboys (6-0) as the teams combined for eight ties and nine lead changes.

Daniel Mullings led the Aggies with 21 points as he became the ninth player in NM State history to score 1,500 points as brought his total to 1,502. Pascal Siakam, making his first start, tallied 19 points with a game-high nine rebounds, and Remi Barry posted 18 points.

UC Davis 64, Utah Valley 42

DAVIS, Calif. – Marcel Davis led the Utah Valley University men's basketball team with seven points, five rebounds and three assists in a 64-43 setback to UC Davis Saturday night at the Pavilion in Davis, Calif.
 
Utah Valley falls to 3-2 with the loss, while UC Davis improves to a perfect 5-0. The game marked the fourth of seven straight road games for the Wolverines, who continue road play on Monday at Sacramento State.
 
UC Davis got off to a quick start, taking a 20-3 lead midway through the first half. The Wolverines did cut the Aggie lead to 11 points late in the first half, but couldn't get any closer as UC Davis extended its lead to as my as 24 points in the second half.
 
Brenden Evans, Donte Williams and Eli Robison each added six points in the loss. Mitch Bruneel led the Wolverines with a game-high five assists.

Notre Dame 90, Chicago State 42

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Cougars fell 90-42 at Notre Dame Saturday to drop to 2-6 on the season.

Chicago State shot 31 percent from the field, 22 percent from three-point range and 75 percent from the free throw line on the game. The Fighting Irish, meanwhile, connected on 59 percent from the floor, 56 percent from downtown and 64 percent from the charity stripe. Notre Dame dominated the boards, 39-26.

Trayvon Palmer paced the Cougars with nine points and seven rebounds.
