DENVER — Idaho’s Rachel Millet and Bakersfield’s Melissa Gore have been named the Western Athletic Conference Women’s Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively, for October 28-November 2.
Millet, a senior from Spokane, Wash. (Ferris HS) won both individual events in a dual meet with Northern Colorado on Friday. Millet won the 200-yard freestyle (1:55.72) and the 200 backstroke (2:08.87) while also helping the Vandals win the 200 medley relay (1:49.18) and the 400 free relay (3:35.00). Idaho won the meet, 189-111. On Saturday, Millet won the 200 individual medley in a meet against San Diego State and Colorado State with a time of 2:05.94, the second fastest time in the WAC this season. She was also on the winning 400 medley relay team (3:51.41), the fastest time in the WAC.
Gore, a sophomore from Taft, Calif. (Taft Union HS) earned wins on both boards to help the Roadrunners beat Fresno Pacific on Saturday afternoon. On the 1-meter, Gore scored 245.25 points to tie her top score of the season. She also won the 3-meter board with a score of 234.90 points to give her four victories in six events this year.
