Missouri-Kansas City volleyball player Taryn Miller has been named to the CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-District 6 first team it was announced today. As a first team selection, she now advances to the national ballot for Academic All-America® consideration.
The junior libero has helped the ‘Roos to school records of 21 wins and 17 consecutive wins, two preseason tournament titles and a current first-place spot in the WAC standings. Individually, she was named WAC player of the Week on Sept. 15 after garnering MVP honors at the CEFCU Classic and last week became the school record holder for career digs with 1,662. Her 585 digs so far this season are the second-most in school history, 59 shy of the school record, and are the third most in the NCAA.
Academically, Miller holds a 4.0 grade-point average as a business administration major. A two-time Academic All-Conference selection, she serves as the squad’s representative to SAAC.
Miller becomes just the second ‘Roo volleyball player to garner the award as Angie Jeffries was also honored in 1999.
To be eligible for Academic All-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00 and have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution.
