DENVER — New Mexico State’s Dorottya Lennert and Northern Arizona’s Alexa Geiger have been named the Western Athletic Conference Women’s Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively, for December 8-14.
Lennert, a junior from Budapest, Hungary (CSIK Ferenc HS) swam exceptionally well at the UNLV Winter Invitational this weekend. On Saturday she won the 200 IM with a time of 2:04.16 which is now the fastest time in the WAC this season. In Sundays prelims of the 100 fly Lennert posted a school record and personal best time of 53.96 to lead the women’s event in the finals. She closed out the 100 fly just 1.1 second shy of first place with a time of 53.99. Her time of 53.96 is the fastest 100 fly time in the WAC this season.
Geiger, a sophomore from Fullerton, Calif. (Centennial HS) swept both diving events at the UNLV Winter Invitational as the lead diver for NAU’s quartet that placed in the top-eight of both events. Geiger went wire-to-wire in both of her wins, placing first after both preliminaries before finishing first overall in the finals. On Saturday, she won the 3-meter by finishing with a finals score of 279.00. She followed with a win on the 1-meter board on Sunday, recording a score of 287.10, the best 1-meter score of any NAU diver this season. Both of her scores were season-best performances.
