PHOENIX – (GCU Media Relations) Behind a strong second half performance, the Grand Canyon University men's basketball team (5-6) picked up a 60-50 win over visiting Bethune-Cookman (3-8) tonight at GCU Arena to open its eight-game homestand. The Antelopes' defense limited the Wildcats to just a 7-for-25 mark (28.0 percent) from the floor over the final 20 minutes to secure the victory.

GCU was led by Joshua Braun and DeWayne Russell with 13 points apiece. Kerwin Smith added seven points and seven rebounds, while Braun led the squad with a season-best eight boards on the night.

The Lopes shot 42.0 percent (21-for-50) for the game while holding B-CU to 34.6 percent (18-for-52). GCU pulled down 39 rebounds and forced 11 Wildcat turnovers. GCU held a 34-24 advantage in points in the paint and was sparked by 21 points from its bench, highlighted by eight points and five rebounds in 11 minutes from Daniel Alexander.

SEATTLE – (SU Media Relations) Giving the night a retro flavor by wearing red uniforms that resemble the ones worn by the Seattle University basketball teams in the 1980s, the Redhawks played a strong game on both ends of the floor to defeat Northwest University, 84-58, Monday night in a non-conference men’s collegiate basketball game at the Connolly Center.

Jarell Flora led Seattle U with a season-high 24 points, plus he collected six rebounds and four assists. Isiah Umipig hit four three-pointers as he finished with 13 points, six rebounds, six assists, and three steals. Coming off the bench, Manroop Clair finished with 12 points and Jadon Cohee contributed 11 points and three assists.

As a team, Seattle U shot 50 percent (27-of-54) from the field, including 11-of-18 from behind the three-point arc, and 67.9 percent (19-of-28) from the free throw line. The Redhawks won the rebounding battle, 43-26, led by Theo Turner with 10 rebounds.
