LOGAN, Utah – (CSUB Media Relations) A six-game losing streak of tight losses and heartbreak came to an end Saturday night as the CSUB Roadrunners held Idaho State to just two field goals over the final 7:37 while making plays down the stretch in a 59-50 win in the final game of the World Vision Classic hosted by Utah State.
CSUB shot 46 percent from the field (21-of-26) and 35 percent from three-point range (6-of-17).
Jaylin Airington scored a career-high 20 points on 8-of-10 shooting and 3-of-5 from three-point range. He also had four rebounds and two assists. Aly Ahmed recorded his second double-double of the season with 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Grand Canyon 81, St. Edwards 55Recap | Stats
PHOENIX – (GCU Media Relations) The Grand Canyon University men's basketball team (6-7) scored a season-high 81 points in a rout of visiting St. Edward's University (10-0) tonight at GCU Arena.
For the second straight game and fourth time this season, the Antelopes shot over 50.0 percent, going 33-for-59 from the field (55.9 percent). After leading by four at halftime, GCU outscored the Toppers 43-21 over the final 20 minutes to secure their largest margin of victory this season behind a 60.7 field goal percentage in the second half. SEU shot 32.8 percent (21-for-64) for the game, and was held to just a 6-for-29 mark (20.7 percent) in the second half.
Joshua Braun led the squad with 20 points, his third straight outing in double figures. DeWayne Russell added 15 points, while Kerwin Smith matched his career-best with 12 points.
Chicago State 76, Saint Joseph’s 54Stats
CHICAGO – The Cougars snapped an eight-game losing skid with a 76-54 win over Saint Joseph's College Saturday at the Jones Convocation Center to improve to 3-10 on the season.
Chicago State shot 40 percent from the field, 29 percent from three-point range and 57 percent from the free throw line on the game. Though the Cougars were out-rebounded 46-37, they took advantage of 29 Saint Joseph's turnovers.
Anthony Glover and Jared Dimakos paced Chicago State with 14 points each, while Clarke Rosenberg added 11.
Incarnate Word 110, Missouri-Kansas City 104 (3OT) Recap | Stats
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – (UMKC Media Relations) UMKC played all the way into triple overtime for the first time in the Division I era, but couldn't pull off the upset of Incarnate Word on Saturday night, as four players fouled out and the Cardinals edged the 'Roos 110-104.
The ‘Roos finished with six players in double-figure points for the first time since 2009, while Darius Austin (10), Noah Knight (10), Deshon Taylor (14) and Kevin Franceschi (10) all had career-highs in scoring. Thaddeus Smith also had a career-high nine rebounds, five better than his career best.
Martez Harrison played only 24 minutes in the game, but still led the ‘Roos with 17 points and four steals. Reese Holliday tallied 12 points and had a team-best five assists.
Weber State 73, Utah Valley 61Recap | Stats
OGDEN, Utah – (UVU Media Relations) Mitch Bruneel scored 21 points and pulled down nine rebounds to lead the Utah Valley University men's basketball team in a 73-61 setback to Weber State Saturday night at the Dee Events Center.
With the loss, Utah Valley falls to 3-7 on the season while Weber State improves to 4-5. The Wolverines have played eight of their 10 games on the road.
Zach Nelson and Brenden Evans each scored nine points on the night. Evans neared a double-double with eight rebounds. Donte Williams recorded eight points and Marcel Davis added six.
New Mexico 69, New Mexico State 67Recap | Stats
LAS CRUCES, N.M. – (NM State Media Relations) Ian Baker scored a career-high 21 points on 8-of-11 shooting from the field, however, New Mexico State dropped a 69-67 decision to Rio Grande Rival New Mexico Saturday evening at the Pan American Center, snapping a 14-game home winning streak.
The Aggies finished the night shooting 48 percent (26-of-54) from the field – including 5-of-15 from beyond the arc. The Lobos shot 52 percent (28-of-53) from the floor.
Remi Barry finished with 15 points and Pascal Siakam helped out with 16 points and six boards.
