DENVER – Bakersfield forward Batabe Zempare has been named Western Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for Dec. 15 through Dec. 22.
Zempare, a junior from Accra, Ghana (Scottsdale Chapparal HS), posted a pair of double-doubles to lead Bakersfield to a pair of close wins. She averaged 13.5 ppg and 11.0 rpg as the Roadrunners earned three-point wins at UC Irvine and at home against UNLV. She was 11 of 16 from the field for 68.8% and averaged 2.5 steals per game, including a career-high five steals against UNLV.
Other nominees included: Seattle U guard Crystal Allen set a career-high in scoring with 18 points against Montana…New Mexico State guard Moriah Mack posted a pair of double-digit scoring efforts as the Aggies went 2-1 on the week…Texas-Pan American forward Shawnte’ Goff led the Broncs in scoring for the ninth time this season with 21 points against Incarnate Word…Missouri-Kansas City forward Kiana Law scored 17 points and brought down eight rebounds in a loss to William Jewell…Grand Canyon center Tori Morris had a career-best 13 points against North Dakota State in her first collegiate start.
