OREM, Utah — (UVU Media Relations) Freshman Mariah Seals made a lase second layup to secure the victory over Omaha 59-57 on Monday afternoon in the UCCU Center.

With 20 seconds remaining, point guard Seals ran out the clock until the final moments when she made the game winning layup.

Rhaiah Spooner-Knight led the Wolverines (6-8) with 18 points (9-for-15) and also added five rebounds. Karlee Norris earned her first double-double of the season with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Seals finished with 13 points. Rebecca MaWhinney also finished with 5 rebounds. Utah Valley shot 43.3 percent on the night and had 18 assists as a team, among their highest this season.

New Mexico State 81, Southern Utah 64

CEDAR CITY, Utah – (NMSU Media Relations) After starting the season 0-5, the New Mexico State women’s basketball team has had an outstanding month of December and now get to .500 for the first time this season after defeating Southern Utah, 81-64, on Monday afternoon.

Zaire Williams had a career shooting day as the freshman guard shattered her career high, finishing with 25 points on 9-of-13 shooting from the field and 7-of-9 shooting from 3-point range. The 25 points is also the most points scored this season by any Aggie player. She already had a career high after 20 first-half points. Her seven 3-pointers also ties her for third-most 3-pointers in a game in program history.

Oregon 70, Seattle U 44

EUGENE, Ore. - (SU Media Relations) Seattle University women’s basketball (2-10) took the early lead on the Ducks’ home floor but Oregon (7-4) would put together a 24-8 run to lead by double digits midway through the first half, eventually winning, 70-44, in non-conference action.

Ross and Best led SU with 14 points apiece while Montgomery added 12. Best and Montgomery combined for all five of Seattle U’s three-pointers (5-for-14 as a team).

DAYTON, Ohio - Layne Murphy nearly collected the double double with 16 points and nine rebounds but it wasn't enough to give Chicago State an advantage over Wright State as the Cougars fell, 81-40, on Monday evening in Dayton, Ohio.
