CHICAGO – After trailing by 10 points with just under nine minutes remaining in the game, the Cougars scored seven straight and went on to defeat Omaha 69-66 Monday at the Jones Convocation Center. With the win, Chicago State improves to 4-11 on the season.
The Cougars shot 45 percent from the field, 50 percent from three-point range and 77 percent from the free throw line on the game. The Mavericks connected on 36 percent from the floor, 31 percent from downtown and 53 percent from the charity stripe. Omaha won the rebounding battle, 42-31.
Clarke Rosenberg and Montana Byrd paced Chicago State with 12 points each, while Rahjan Muhammad added 11. Michael Johnson pulled down a team-high seven rebounds, while Kurt Karis dished out a game-high five assists.
