Freshman Johnathon Wilkins was 3-of-4 from the line in the waning moments and 5-of-8 on the night. DK Eldridge scored 14 points on 5-of-9 shooting from the floor and Pascal Siakam helped out with 12 points and a game-high five blocks.NM State shot 39 percent (21-of-53) from the field, while conversely UTEP (4-3) shot 42 percent (24-of-57) from the floor. The NM State defense was key in the victory. The Aggies forced 13 turnovers, which turned into 16 points. The Aggies held onto the ball well and turned it nine times to equal a season low.Grand Canyon 80, Great Falls 61Recap | StatsPHOENIX – (GCU Media Relations) After a slow start over the first six minutes of the game, the Grand Canyon University men's basketball team found their stride and eased their way to an 80-61 win over Great Falls tonight at GCU Arena in Phoenix. The win improved the Antelopes to 4-4 overall, while the Argos dropped to 7-3.GCU had four players finish in double-digit scoring, including Royce Woolridge who had a game-high 18 on 8-for-10 shooting. He also pulled down six boards. Joshua Braun and Jerome Garrison each had 11 points, with Braun pulling down a season-high tying seven rebounds.The Antelopes dominated many statistical categories during the game, winning the points in the paint battle by a 48-30 margin. GCU also led 24-8 in points off turnovers and 36-20 in bench points. Both squads struggled from the line, with GCU shooting 54.2 percent (13-for-24) and Great Falls coming in at 52.4 (11-for-21).South Dakota State 81, Missouri-Kansas City 61Recap | StatsBROOKINGS, S.D. – (UMKC Media Relations) UMKC men's basketball fell behind early and could never recover in an 81-61 loss at former Summit League foe South Dakota State on Saturday at Frost Arena.In the end, SDSU went 25-of-30 from the line, while UMKC was there only 18 times, hitting 14. Also, the Jacks shot 49 percent, while UMKC hit only 38 percent. The Jacks out-scored the ‘Roos by only one in the second half though. Martez Harrison led the ‘Roos with 12 points, the 27th consecutive game in double figures, matching Michael Watson for the second longest streak in school history. He was only 4-of-13 from the floor though, and had seven of the ‘Roos 16 turnovers in the game. Deshon Taylor matched his career-high with 10 points.Sam Houston State 78, Texas-Pan American 59Recap | StatsHOUSTON – (UTPA Media Relations) The University of Texas-Pan American Broncs men's basketball team closed out a five-game road trip with a 78-59 loss to the Sam Houston State University Bearkats on Saturday at Johnson Coliseum. Janari Joesaar led the Broncs (4-4) with 17 points, six rebounds and two assists. Everett Osborne scored a career-high 13 points, while Dan Kimasa posted his first-career double-double with 11 points and a career-high 12 rebounds (four offensive).Toledo 87, Chicago State 59StatsTOLEDO, Ohio – The Cougars dropped their sixth straight game, falling 87-59 at Toledo Saturday. With the loss, Chicago State drops to 2-8 on the season.The Cougars shot 39 percent from the field, 23 percent from three-point range and just 48 percent from the free throw line on the game. The hot shooting Rockets connected on 61 percent from the field, 50 percent from downtown and 84 percent from the charity stripe. Toledo also dominated the boards, 37-23.Anthony Glover led Chicago State with 15 points.Montana State 68, Utah Valley 60 Recap | StatsBOZEMAN, Mont. – (UVU Media Relations) The Utah Valley University men's basketball team dropped a 68-60 decision at Montana State Saturday night in a game that included six ties and 13 lead changes. The game marked the sixth of seven straight road games for the Wolverines, who will continue road play at No. 3 Arizona Tuesday night. Tied 51-51 with 6:23 to play, Montana went on a 9-1 run over the next three minutes to take a 60-52 lead with 3:21 remaining. Utah Valley (3-4) could not recover as Montana State (3-5) knocked down its free throws over the final three minutes to secure the victory.Marcel Davis led Utah Valley with a season-high 17 points. Davis hit 6-of-10 shots from the field, including a 5-of-8 clip from the free throw line. He also pulled down six rebounds, dished out three assists and recorded a steal. Brenden Evans also reached double figures with 10 points, knocking down 4-of-8 shots from the field. Mitch Bruneel nearly tallied a double-double with nine rebounds and eight points. The Wolverines shot 45.1 percent from the field while the Bobcats hit 45.3 percent of their shots. Utah Valley scored 36 points in the paint compared to MSU's 20. The Wolverines went 2-for-12 from three-point range while the Bobcats hit 6-of-18 shots from beyond the arc.Fresno State 63, Bakersfield 61 Recap | StatsBAKERSFIELD, Calif. – (CSUB Media Relations) For the third straight game the outcome of Saturday night’s contest against Fresno State came down to the final seconds and once again the result didn’t favor the CSUB Roadrunners (1-7) in a 63-61 loss to Fresno State (3-6) at the Icardo Center.The game came down to a 61-61 tie with under 20 seconds remaining. The Roadrunners inbounded the ball to Dashawn Richmond on the wing, Richmond then fell down when he started to dribble, on one knee and surrounded by defenders Richmond was assessed a technical foul for calling a timeout the Roadrunners did not have.Marvell Harris, who led all Fresno State scorers with 27 points, made the ensuing two free throws with 17 seconds left as the Roadrunners' final two shots missed as Fresno State sent CSUB to its fourth loss this season by less than two points.The Roadrunners shot 48 percent in the second half (11 of 28) but Fresno State, sparked by Harris’s outburst, converted 9-of-17 for 53 percent and were 18-of-21 from the free throw line in a half that featured 38 total free throws. CSUB was 12-of-17 in the half from free throw line and 17-of-28 in the game.CSUB has now lost five games this season by five or fewer points. Jarell Flora finished with 12 points and seven rebounds, while Jadon Cohee’s 12 points all came in the second half and Deshaun Sunderhaus contributed 10 points and a team-high nine rebounds.
