DENVER – Kansas City’s Shanelle Williams and Dahlia Dyson have been named the Western Athletic Conference women’s track and field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for Feb. 3-9.
Williams, a senior from St. Louis, Mo. (Hazelwood West HS), broke a school-record in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.57 seconds, winning the event at the Missouri Invitational. That time is the fastest in the WAC this season. She placed fourth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.49 and added a ninth-place finish in the 60-meter dash.
Dyson, a junior from O’Fallon, Mo. (Fort Zumwalt West HS), placed first in the weight throw for the second time this season with a distance of 18.26m. She also placed second in shot put (12.92m), her fourth top-five finish of the season in the event. Her weight throw mark is first in the WAC this year.
