TEAM RECAPS
Bakersfield Roadrunners  
The Bakersfield women’s track and field team began the season at the Northern Arizona Invitational in Flagstaff, Ariz., on Jan. 24-25 ... freshman Marina Emhoff  paced her heat of the 400-meter dash, finishing with a time of 58.47, which was good enough for 13th out of a field of 22 ... junior Megan Thompson earned a sixth place finish in the 1000m (3:12.25) ... freshman LaShya Morgan performed well in the mile run, finishing ninth out of 17 runners, with a time of 5:39.26 ... the ‘Runner track and field team competed at the Northridge All Comers meet on Feb. 1, an outdoor meet ... the team is back in action this week, competing at the Run for the Dream event in Fresno, Calif., on Monday.

Chicago State Cougars
Chicago State competed at the University of Chicago 2014 Windy City Rumble last weekend ... the men defeated Loyola (Ill.) 51-40 and fell to UIC (79-46) and Valparaiso (72-54) , while the women fell to Loyola (Ill.) 52-46 and Valparaiso 67-43. ... freshman Tyler Whittler won the 55-meter dash thanks to a time of 6.62 ... the Cougars won the 4x400 relay with a time of 3:26.65 ...  junior DeShaunte Lewis won the mile with a time of 4:23.86 ... Kory Jackson won the long jump after a leap of 6.78 meters ... for the women, freshman Zhate Jackson set a school record time of 7.33 in the 55-meter dash, claiming the event ... the Cougars will compete against the rest of the area competition next week at the Chicagoland Indoor Championships on Friday and Saturday.

Grand Canyon ‘Lopes
Grand Canyon competed at the Mountain T’s Invitational over the weekend in Flagstaff, Ariz. ... Stephan Bullard took home a first-place finish in the 800-meter run and holds the fastest time in the conference in the event ... Robert Matthew also garnered a top finish, taking home the crown in the men’s triple jump ... Samantha Bogatz finished second in the 60-meter dash and also took home a third in the 200-meter dash ... she currently holds the second-fastest time in the WAC in the 60-meter dash behind teammate Shavine Hodges ... Brianne Kee recorded the top-mark this season in the WAC in the women’s long jump, recording a jump of 5.82 meters, on her way to a third-place finish in Flagstaff….this week, the ‘Lopes will head to Albuquerque to take part in the Don Kirby Invitational ... it will be the final meet for GCU before the WAC Indoor Championships.

Idaho Vandals  
Idaho hosted two meets last weekend, the Vandal Indoor on Feb. 7 and the Vandal Open on Feb. 8 ... Ben Ayesu-Attah    won the 400m event with a season-best time of 47.42 … anchored the 4x400m relay team that posted a first-place time of 3:12.84 ... his 400m time ranks 41st in the NCAA, leads the WAC and the Canadian indoor track and field rankings so far this season ... Arphaxad Carroll finished first in the long jump with a mark of 23-5.5 (7.15m) and placed third in the triple jump with a leap of 46-7.25 (14.20m) on Friday ... he returned Saturday and took the triple jump event with a jump of 46-1.25 (14.05m) ... Karlene Hurrel won the 60m dash with a season-best time of 7.65 and also won the 200m with another season-best time of 24.42 ... this week, the Vandals travel to Seattle, Wash. for the Husky Classic on Friday and Saturday.

Kansas City Kangaroos
Kansas City competed at the Missouri Invitational last weekend ... Shanelle Williams won the women’s 60-meter hurdles with  a time of 8.57 ... Williams also ran a 25.93 in the finals of the 200m to finish fourth ... Michelle Momo won the women’s long jump with a distance of 5.67m in the finals ... Dahlia Dyson won the women’s weight throw with a finals distance of 18.26m ... she placed fourth in the women’s shot put with a finals distance of 12.92m ... her weight throw mark is first in the WAC this year ... the men’s 4x400-meter relay team placed first with a time of 3:25.43 ... Dyson and Williams were named WAC track and field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for their efforts ... next up for the ‘Roos is a trip to Ames, Iowa, for the Iowa State Classic on Feb. 14.

New Mexico State Aggies
NM State travels to Albuquerque, N.M., to compete in the Don Kirby Invitational on Friday and Saturday ... the Aggies just returned from Albuquerque, where they competed in the New Mexico Collegiate Classic last week ... freshman Paige Patterson finished first for the Aggies and sixth overall in the 400-meter dash with a time of 57.37 ... she also ran the 4x400-meter relay where she helped the team finish sixth overall with a time of 3:52.37 ... freshman Akuadasou Ezenyilimba finished 10th in 20-pound weight throw with a distance of 14.90m (48-10) ... senior Alishia Perkins led the Aggies in the 200-meter dash and finished sixth overall 24.62 ... the Aggies will have next week off before traveling to Moscow, Idaho for the 2014 WAC Indoor Championships on Feb. 26-27.

Seattle University Redhawks
The Redhawks competed on Jan. 31-Feb. 1 at the UW Invitational ... Sophie Curatilo filled the 800 meter leg of the distance medley relay Friday night, helping to set a new school record at 12:08.66 .. she finished second in her section of the 3000m Saturday morning with a time of 9:59.46 ... Curatilo now is fourth on the WAC performance list in the 3000m and continues to lead the conference in the one mile run ... Mandie Maddux put together the second-best pentathlon score in the conference with 3,114 points ... she is also currently tied for second in the WAC in the high jump after her performance over the weekend ... she was named WAC field Athlete of the Week ... Zac Schlachter  finishing seventh overall with a time of 22.25 seconds in the 200m ... this week, SU will be back in action on Friday and Saturday at the Husky Classic.

Texas-Pan American Broncs
The Broncs competed at the Masked Rider Open on Jan. 31-Feb. 1 where they recorded 14 top-10 finishes ... only Martin Casse was in action for the Broncs, running at the Shanelle Williams and the David Hemery Valentine Invitational in Boston, Mass ... Casse finished in 17th place out of 307 runners in the mile run with a time 4:01.04 ... the time is the best in the WAC and tied for 26th best in the nation this year ... the mark also set a new program record by 10 seconds ... Casse now holds two of the top three times in program history after his time of 4:11.73 at the Texas A&M 12-Team Invitational in January ... the Broncs are back in  Lubbock, Texas for the Red Raider Open on Friday.

Utah Valley Wolverines
In its last action, Utah Valley fared well at the Mountain States Games hosted by Idaho State, the Wolverines second consecutive meet in Pocatello, Idaho ... in all, UVU managed to win five events at the two-day meet ... Drake Walker’s victories in the 60m and 200m opens, along with Trac Norris ‘and Josh Monsen’s wins in the 1-mile and 3000m, respectively, led the way for the men ... senior Latoya Shaw’s victory in the 60m dash paced the women ... Lauren Hicks had another strong showing in the triple jump as she broke the school record for the fourth time on the season with a leap of 11.68m ... the Wolverines are back in action this week on Saturday when they’ll travel to Nampa, Idaho, to take part at the Boise State Team Challenge.
