TEAM RECAPS
CHICAGO STATE
Chicago State went 1-1 on the weekend in two home matches, falling 4-2 to SIUE and knocking off Dayton 4-0 ... freshman Kirsa Utech went 2-0 in No. 1 singles play and 1-0 in No. 2 doubles play on the week ... Utech dropped SIUE’s Monique Krutak 6-3, 6-0 and defeated Dayton’s Sammi Hornbarger 6-1, 6-1 ... Utech has now won three straight singles matches at No. 1 singles and three straight in doubles play ... this week, the Cougars host Wright State on Friday and travel to Southern Illinois on Saturday.

GRAND CANYON
Grand Canyon picked up its first D-I win in its inaugural season with the WAC, downing UTEP 6-1 ... GCU dropped the opening set in five of six singles matches, but rallied to win four of them ... junior Silvia Tumova won three of four matches on the week, with one being unfinished ... she picked up two of GCU’s six points in the win over UTEP ... GCU is off this week ... the ‘Lopes will be back in action with a trip to Chicago to face Illinois-Chicago and South Dakota State on Feb. 21, and then a match at Chicago State on Feb. 22.

IDAHO
Idaho improved to 4-1 on the season with a 5-0 victory over Seattle on Feb. 8 ... Idaho’s scheduled match against Lewis Clark State College has been postponed until later in the spring ... five of the eight singles sets Idaho won vs. Seattle U were by a 6-0 score ... after wins in singles and doubles against Seattle, Almudena Sanz has now won four straight matches in both singles and doubles this season, and is 4-1 overall in each ... this week, the Vandals will face Fresno State on Thursday and Utah State on Friday.

KANSAS CITY
The ‘Roos went 0-3 on the weekend, falling at Drake, 5-2, on Feb. 7, against Eastern Michigan, 7-0, on Feb. 8 and at Kansas, 6-1, on Feb. 9 ... sophomore Dimitra Stavrianakou grabbed a No. 1 singles win against Drake ... senior Gabby Pintos earned a victory at the No. 6 singles position against Kansas ... this week, the ‘Roos will travel to face Northern Iowa on Friday.

NEW MEXICO STATE
New Mexico State went 1-2 in a three-match road trip to Las Vegas from Feb. 7-9 ... the Aggies fell 5-2 to UNLV and 4-3 to Pacific, sandwiched around a 6-1 victory over UC Riverside ... sophomore Ashvarya Shrivastava finished her weekend 2-1 in singles play, while she and senior Annemieke Witte were 3-0 in double matches at the third spot ... this week, the NM State will begin its home schedule for the spring season with two matches at the NM State Tennis Center ... the Aggies will face Lamar on Friday and Northern Arizona on Sunday.

SEATTLE U
Seattle U went 3-2 during a stretch of five matches in four days from Feb. 6-9... SU earned its first win of the season at Lewis-Clark State, 7-0, on Feb. 6 … the Redhawks also earned a historic 4-3 victory over Gonzaga, the team’s first ever win vs. the Bulldogs, on Feb. 7, and a 5-2 win over Eastern Washington on Feb. 8 ... SU fell to Idaho (5-0) and Washington State (4-1) on Feb. 8 ... Sarah Lucas and Corinne Wurden sealed the win over Gonzaga with the final two singles victories … Samantha Garrard earned a victory at No. 6 singles vs. Washington State … this week, SU will face Portland on Saturday in Vancouver, Wash.

TEXAS-PAN AMERICAN
The Broncs had the first of six straight road matches as they fell to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 0-6 on Monday ... the Broncs forced three sets in three-of-six singles matches, but the Islanders went on to will all six singles matches ... the Broncs are back in action on Saturday when they travel to face the Texas State Bobcats ... UTPA will then travel to Incarnate Word on Sunday.

WAC TOURNAMENT TO BE HELD IN LAS CRUCES
The 2014 WAC Tennis Tournament will be held April 25-27 in Las Cruces, N.M.  The WAC conference championship will be up for grabs, as last year’s champions, San Jose State, has since departed the WAC.
